JEST 2020 Physics Paper Analysis

A total of 50 questions were asked in JEST 2020 question paper; of which 11 questions were from Quantum Mechanics section. Nine questions each were asked from Classical Mechanics and Electromagnetism sections. We have tabulated the total number of questions from each section and their total weightage.

Exam Pattern of JEST 2020

Generally, the question paper designed in accordance with the JEST exam pattern mentioned below.

Marking Scheme of JEST 2020

Three marks are allotted for every correct answer in section A and B. In case of section C, one mark is allotted for every correct answer. Also, go through the negative marking scheme for an incorrect answer in case of all three sections below.

Section A: For every correct answer, three marks will be allotted whereas there will be deduction of 1 mark for an incorrect answer.

Section B: There will be no negative marking in case of incorrect answers in this section. In case of a correct answer, three marks will be rewarded.

Section C: One mark will be rewarded for a correct answer whereas 0.33 marks will be cut for a wrong response.  

JEST 2019 Question Paper Analysis

Last year, the question paper of JEST was moderate in level wherein the maximum number of questions were asked from the Mathematical Physics section. In total, 12 questions were asked from main topics including Vector Algebra and Calculus, Laplace transforms, linear differential equations, etc.

The minimum qualifying marks for JEST 2019 PhD integrated exam were 35. Candidates who had appeared for PhD admission test required to secure at least 32 marks to qualify.

JEST exam is conducted for admission to PhD, Integrated PhD, and MSc programs in Physics; PhD and Integrated PhD programs in Theoretical Computer Science; and PhD programme in Computational Biology. The exam is a computer test. Joint Entrance Screening Test is conducted once a year.

JEST exam is conducted computer-based format. The exam duration is three hours. The JEST question paper will have three sections. Part A and C will have 10 questions, while Part B will have 20 questions. There is no negative marking for Part C.

JEST 2026 exam date was April 12, 2026. The authority had conducted the exam for three hours. JEST was conducted for PHYSICS and THEORETICAL COMPUTER SCIENCE. Candidates must appear for the exam as per the schedule.
