Focus on covering major topics, understanding the complete exam pattern, and planning and implementing a study plan with a positive approach.

Indian Institute of Technology - Joint Admission Test (IIT JAM) is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institute of Science (IISC) for admission in a post-graduate programme. The success of this test depends on the preparation of your IIT JAM. For IIT JAM applicants, some of the common questions before an assessment.

How to prepare for IIT JAM Physics

  • To prepare for IIT JAM Physics, one needs complete focus and commitment. The first and foremost step is to prepare a schedule. The applicant needs to prepare a calendar after understanding the curriculum. In my opinion, early morning is a perfect time to learn something new or to review notes from the day before as, during the morning, your mind is completely relaxed.
  • Make short notes of all the topics covered during the preparation. Also, write down all the formulae in a separate notebook to ease the revision process.
  • During the preparation, the students should also focus on their weak areas and work towards enhancing these areas.
  • For the IIT JAM Exam, Thermodynamics is one of the most important chapters so candidates must focus on mastering the principles of thermodynamics to solve the questions easily.
  • Students should refer to previous years’ question papers to understand the pattern of the exam. This exercise would help students in enhancing their speed and analysing the gaps. Also, the students must try and complete each paper within the stipulated time to manage time properly in the exam.
  • Consistent practise of the numerical questions helps to understand the pattern of the exam in a better way and understand the number of questions in the exam from a particular topic.
  • Another high weightage topic in the IIT JAM exam is Electricity and Magnetism. To ace this topic, the students must be conceptually strong. Hence, the students must focus on understanding the fundamentals.
  • With previous year question papers, write as many mock tests as possible
  • Revision is one of the important steps of the preparation process. The simple way to make sure that the student has command on a subject is to track their progress and revise every week.
  • Also, take enough rest, breaks and sleep every day to relax mind and body
