How is CUET PG 2026 Score Calculated
Result: Apr ' 26
CUET PG score is evaluated based on CUET PG examination marking scheme. Students must remember the following marking scheme while calculating CUET PG 2026 score.
- Each question carries four marks.
- For each wrong answer, one mark will be deducted from the total score.
- Unanswered or unattempted answers will be given no marks.
How to Calculate the CUET PG Score
The process to calculate the CUET PG 2026 scores:
- Students need to log in portal of CUET PG 2026 and download their respective response sheet and answer key
- Calculate total number of questions attempted in CUET exam.
- Tally correct and incorrect answer using release answer key.
- Use marking scheme to calculate the raw score of CUET PG 2026 examination.
Candidates can use the following formula to calculate CUET PG 2026 raw score.
(Number of correct answers x 5) - (Number of incorrect answers x 1)
How is CUET PG 2026 Percentile Calculated
Percentile scores refer to the relative performance of all those who appear for the examination. The marks obtained are transformed into a scale ranging from 100 to 0 for each session of examinees. The Percentile Score indicates the percentage of candidates who have scored EQUAL TO OR BELOW that particular Percentile in that examination. Therefore, the topper (highest score) of each session will get the same Percentile of 100, which is desirable.
The Percentile score will be the Normalized Score for the examination (instead of the raw marks of the candidate) and shall be used for the preparation of the merit lists.
The Percentile score of a Candidate is calculated as follows:
Here is the formula given for how to calculate percentile score of a candidate:
Procedure for Normalization And Preparation of Result
Here is the normalisation process explained in detail
Distribution of Examinees in shifts
Candidates have to be distributed into two sessions randomly so that each session has an approximately equal number of candidates. In the event of a more number of days or fewer shifts, the candidates will be divided accordingly. This will ensure that there is no bias in the distribution of candidates who shall take the examination. Further, with a large population of examinees spread over the entire centres, the possibility of such bias becomes remote.
Preparation of Results for each Session:
The examination results for each session would be prepared in the form of
- Raw Scores
- Percentile Scores of Total raw scores.
The Percentiles would be calculated for each candidate in the Session as follows:
Let TP1 be the Percentile Score of the total raw score of that candidate.
The Percentile scores for the Total Raw Score for all the sessions (Session-1: Day-1 Shift-1, Session-2: Day1 Shift-2), as calculated in Step-2 above, would be merged and shall be called the NTA scores, which will then be used for the compilation of results and further processing for deciding the allocation.
Commonly asked questions
The CUET PG negative marking scheme aims to discourage random guessing and encourage thoughtful consideration of answers. Here's a breakdown of its potential advantages:
- Reduced Guesswork: By deducting marks for incorrect answers, candidates are less likely to randomly guess, promoting a more accurate assessment of their knowledge.
- Focus on Accuracy: The scheme incentivizes candidates to focus on answering questions they are confident about, rather than attempting all questions regardless of their understanding.
- Fairer Competition: Negative marking can create a more level playing field by reducing the impact of lucky guesses and emphasizing genuine understanding of the subject matter.
- Strategic Decision-Making: It encourages candidates to develop strategic test-taking skills, such as identifying and skipping questions they are unsure about.
