Language Courses Through CUET PG

CUET PG is one of the most opted for entrance exams for master’s degree courses. Conducted by the National Testing Agency, there are a total of 157 subjects or papers tested in the CUET PG 2026 exam. The total number of streams is six. CUET PG Language stream has the highest number of subjects or papers.

The total number of Language courses through CUET PG 2026 exam is 41. The list of Language courses or subjects offered through the entrance test is not limited to popular languages like English and Hindi, but also includes Indian tribal languages such as Garo and Khasi, as well as international languages like Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, to name a few.

Q:   What are the new changes expected to be introduced in General Paper of CUET PG 2026 exam?
A: 

The National Testing Agency released the CUET PG 2026 notification on December 14, 2025. However, there has not been any change in terms of exam pattern, syllabus or application process. The total number of exam cities has decreased.

Candidates must note that the Language Comprehension/Verbal Ability section is compulsory. The General Test also has to be taken by candidates opting for all test papers except Education (PGQP01).

Q:   What is CUET PG exam pattern?
A: 

NTA will do some minor changes in the CUET PG exam pattern. Now the exam duration of the CUET PG exam will be 90 minutes instead of 105. There will be 75 MCQ questions asked from the candidates domain knowledge. The exam will be conducted in online/CBT mode in a bilingual medium.

The CUET PG exam is conducted in a computer-based mode. The format of the questions is objective type. There are 75 multiple choice questions with four options. With the help of a mouse, students have to mark the correct answer option and click on Save and Next to move to the next question. They can also mark a question for review. The CUET PG exam screen will show the total number of attempted, unattempted, and marked for review questions. Candidates can also move forward and backward with the help of mouse.

How to Prepare for CUET PG 2026 Language Subjects

The preparation tips for the CUET PG Language subjects are given below.

Know the syllabus: First and foremost, you must know the CUET PG syllabus of the Language paper you have opted for. Once you know the syllabus, you need to identify which are your topics of strength and weakness. Based on that, plan the preparation strategy, wherein you will have to allot more time to the weak areas and also keep revising the strong areas.

Understand the grammar rules: Since language is all about grammar, it is important to know the rules and structure of the language subject opted for. For this, the best way to do this is by referring to the school textbooks and grammar books. The more you read and write, the better you will understand the nuances of the language.

Improve vocabulary: Vocabulary is another important pillar of learning a language. Hence, learning words and meanings, along with the correct usage and application, is crucial. To improve vocabulary, you can refer to a dictionary or a thesaurus and use flash cards.  

Practice and solve previous years’ question papers: This is one of the most important methods of preparation for the Language courses of CUET PG. You can download previous years’ CUET PG question papers from the NTA website and also solve CUET PG mock tests to get accustomed to the exam.

The CUET PG 2026 exam will be conducted in March 2026. The CUET PG 2026 application process is being conducted from December 14, 2025, to January 14, 2026. Candidates can select up to four test papers. Around 200 Central, State, Private or Deemed Universities and Government Institutes.
