The direct admission is provided only on vacant seats at institution or college level. The eligibility criteria for direct admission on seats remaining vacant in the first year after entrance examination counselling shall be such as may be notified from time to time. The general admission process for AKTU BTech course is through entrance exam. The university accepts national or state-level entrance exams like JEE Main, CUET, KEAM or IPU CET. 

The selection will be followed by counselling. The counselling process of shortlisted candidates will be managed and regulated by AKTU based on which the candidates will be allotted seats. The seat allotment is based on the affiliated college cutoff and the candidate's preference for courses and colleges.

The placement statistics for AKTU are not available on the official website for the year 2023. However, as per the media report, 13 BTech students were placed during the placement drive 2022. A total of seven students were placed with a salary package of INR 4.90 LPA from BTech Computer Science and IT branch.
