Huge dissapointment since the department does't have the basic media tools.
Placements: Every year placement cell of BHU and DJMC invites brand like ABP news and Sony Entertainment. Various NGOs are also invited for conducting placement. Lack of technical and communication skill makes it extremely tough for the students to do well in their interview round. Last year only 1 student was selected for ABP news while 2 students were selected for NGOs.
Infrastructure: Department is fully Wi-Fi enabled and has an air conditioned library. The computer laboratory is also there but of no use since most of the system does't work. Classrooms are pretty modern with projectors and marble flooring. The department has its own auditorium. Medical facilities for DJMC students is same as that of BHU. Hostel rooms are pretty well furnished but the crowd is not good in Birla hostel where DJMC students are allotted their rooms.
Faculty: The department runs M.A. . Mass Comm. M.A. Corporate Communication, Diploma in Hindi Journalism and Ph.D. It does not offer Bachelors degree. Faculty has a mixture of both experience and ameatur. Most of the teachers don't take regular classes. The curriculum is very basic and something that does't need repetition at Masters level. There is dirty politics going on in this dept. That one can easily find out on google. Overall this department attracts students from various parts of India but the department does't do justice with its parent body, BHU.
Other: Crowd is composed of mainly bhojpuri speaking belt. English is very poor among the students. Though they are hard-working but there's nothing more to expect from the department and faculty. If you're good then you'll make your way else you'll be caught in student-teacher politics.
