Great place for a master's in economics.
Placements: Quite many companies approach the placement cell. 40 to 50 students out of around 180 get placed on campus. There are some companies that have revoked promised offers. Roles mainly include data analyst and sales. One can secure a 6 LPA package if he/she is sincere throughout the course.
Infrastructure: There is an extensive library with all required books. One can even access central library of main campus, which is huge. Classes are air conditioned, and software is taught in labs. There is a homely feeling, with a homely canteen and a wonderful vibe.
Faculty: Teachers are best in business, with high accolades. They try their best to clear concepts and support you after class. Exams are of standard difficulty, but nothing comes out of the syllabus. It will be 2 years of gaining extensive knowledge about economics.

Good for studies and teachers are good.
Placements: No higher or active placement cell was there. Students had to find out about the placements and reach out to companies. Mostly students opted for higher studies after the course. Students could join internships with the faculty and help them in their work. Final-year students got internships easily in companies.
Infrastructure: Average infrastructure and facilities for the students included like labs, average size classrooms, an auditorium, a huge ground and court, medical rooms, labs, etc. They had a big library with all the important books. The quality of the facilities in the hostel was also above average according to their prices.
Faculty: My course curriculum was not much relevant and it did not make students properly industry-ready because they stuck to the books and theory only. Teachers were qualified and knowledgeable. They helped us a lot. Semester exams were moderate level and easy to pass with 33%.

My 2 Years in Calcutta University Department of Economics
Placements: Calcutta University's Department of Economics has a separate placement cell, but the placement scenario is not that good. Deloitte, TCS, Genpact, and Accenture are among the companies that take students for their job roles like Senior Executive, Marketing Analyst, Business Analyst, and Data Science Associate. All the requirements have three stages of testing online: the 1st round of elimination and the 2nd round of elimination. However, the overall placement scenario depends on the marks of the 1st semester (at least 6 CGPA will be workable). The placement scenario on campus is not that satisfactory. The placement committee contains a placement officer, six students, and two faculty placement coordinators.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is quite good. We have a computerized lab for Econometrics and Operations Research. There is a separate common room for girls and separate rooms for research scholars. We also have a well-furnished canteen. Additionally, we have an Analytics Club, Photography Club, Quiz Club, Oratory Club, Sports Club, and Recreational Club, and we have an Event Management Committee and an Ecovision Committee. We have a well-stuffed library containing all the required books, e-library facilities, a computer room, and Wi-Fi connection for university students. As a government college, the fees are not that costly.
Faculty: Our course curriculum has content pressure; we have five papers in our 1st semester: 1) Advanced Indian Economics, 2) Mathematical Economics, 3) Microeconomics, 4) Macroeconomics, and 5) Econometrics. In the 2nd semester, we have another five papers: 1) Microeconomics, 2) Macroeconomics, 3) Econometrics, 4) Development Economics, and 5) History of Economic Thought. In the 3rd and 4th semesters, we have three special papers based on the marks of the 1st semester, and we also have group projects and general elective papers. Game Theory and Econometrics are the toughest among them, while Marxian Economics is the unique one. Our faculties are very well qualified and have their PhDs from renowned institutes in India and abroad. We also have guest faculties from ISI, St. Xavier's College, Ramakrishna Mission Belur, etc.
Other: Calcutta University's Department of Economics has a social media and PR cell, Ecovision Committee, Oratory Club, Analytics Club, Photography Club, Quiz Club, Recreational Club, Sports Club, Placement Committee (with six coordinators), and an Event Organizing Committee. We have fests like the Ecovision Educational Fest, Freshers, Farewell, Teachers' Day, Rabindra Jayanti, and departmental picnics. Scholarships available include SVYMCM and National Post Matric Scholarships, SC/ST scholarships, etc.

Need to improve the university.
Placements: From sixth semester, students were eligible to get placement. Seven companies, like Wipro and Infosys, visit our college each year to fulfill their job vacancies. Nearly every year, around 30 to 40% of students get jobs from the campus. Highest paying package here is 5 LPA.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is good. Well-equipped labs, Wi-Fi, spacious classrooms, and comprehensive library are available. Hostel facilities are satisfactory, having clean rooms and decent amenities. Mess and canteen offer many food options. Medical facilities are adequate, but there are no options for sports and games.
Faculty: The faculty members-to-student ratio is above 50:50. Faculty members organize events such as dance competitions, quizzes, drawing competitions, and debates. Not many teachers are despicable in this college, as everyone is very sincere in their jobs. There are two exams taken each year.
Other: Every year, several festivals are celebrated throughout the year in this college.

All about University of Calcutta.
Placements: The placement cell is organized in a professional manner, headed by student coordinators of the department. From Semester 2 onwards, students become eligible to sit for placements. Top IT companies like EXL, HSBC Bank, Genpact, Accenture, Infosys, and many others come for recruitment. Decent packages are provided, with an average package of 6 LPA.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of this university is good, with a well-maintained campus. The annual college fest, Nexus, is held every year from December to March, in addition to other departmental fests. The college library houses a large number of books and journals required for the curriculum as well as for self-study. There are departmental libraries too. Smart class provisions are available, sports events are held regularly, mainly inter-departmental and sometimes inter-college. The social service group, Roddur, provides free education, clothes, food, and study materials to underprivileged children.
Faculty: There are two professors for every 100 students, which I think is enough. Many of the professors have done their PhDs. Class tests are held just a month before the internal exams, which helps identify any shortcomings. The approach of the professors is problem-based, which reduces the chance of encountering any completely unseen problems when it comes to the syllabus. The interaction between the professors and students is appreciable, considering the extra amount of effort given by the professors to help prepare us for our careers, moreover, the presence of projectors and laptops in the classrooms has further eased the process of learning for the students.

My college has a large campus.
Placements: Proactive placements cell with an impressive 80% students secure placements rate for the previous batch. Varied roles offered including business analyst, senior business analyst, financial transfers pricing in noteworthy companies like HSBC, EXL, and all the best companies.
Infrastructure: Well-designed infrastructure with dedicated computer labs for practical courses. Access to study materials on computers through Wi-Fi in the library. Enriched library with essential books for the curriculum available in all hostel facilities for both boys and girls.
Faculty: Exceptional faculty providing guidance throughout the Master's programme and opportunities for pursuing after completion. Relevant course curriculum with the flexibility to choose special papers in the third semester. Challenging exams for postgraduates.
Other: My college campus is big and follows government rules.

The college has good infrastructure and placements.
Placements: The placement cell is very active. Around 80% of students of the previous batch got placed. The highest package offered was 12 LPA, the lowest package was 6 LPA, and the average package was 7-8 LPA. Roles offered are business analyst, senior business analyst, financial analyst, transfer pricing, etc. Top recruiting companies were HSBC, EXL, Genpact, Ipsos, etc. There are plenty of internships offered by Kotak Mahindra Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, FedEx, etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is good. There are computer labs for practice courses. You can easily find study materials on computers in the libraries using Wi-Fi. The library is enriched with books that are essential for your curriculum. Hostel facilities are also available. The boys' hostel is located just beside the campus. Though the girls' hostel is not that much near, one can take the metro and easily travel from there in 15-20 minutes (the girls' hostel is in Hatibagan).
Faculty: Faculty members are excellent. They guide us throughout our Master's. You can choose to do Ph.D. and M.Phil after that. The course curriculum is also relevant. From the 3rd semester (2nd year), three special papers are offered, which you can choose according to your preference. The exams are a little challenging and appropriate for a post-graduate course.

It is a good college to get a strong idea about economics.
Placements: It has been two months since placements started. 37 students out of 180 interested students have already been placed. In the previous year, about 50% of interested students got placed. The roles offered are mainly those of data analysts and business analysts. Some of the recruiting companies are HSBC, Genpact, EXL Services, and Ganit. FedEx has come to offer internships and will provide PPOs based on performance.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our department is just fine, and the building is being regularly renovated, which includes the installation of new amenities. Every classroom is a smart classroom here, along with proper computer lab facilities and an auditorium. Hostel facilities are fine. Most students are from Kolkata.
Faculty: We have professional teachers who are all highly qualified. The curriculum is mainly focused on academic research and less on IT. Semester exams are moderately difficult, and a lot of students get backlogs every semester. The pass percentage is nearly 60%.
Other: The best thing about this campus is that it has a life of its own, where both teachers and students mind their own businesses and go about their lives. Occasional events and sports competitions are fun here.
