The University has not released the stream-wise placement data for BTech. As per the combined statistics given in the NIRF report 2024, out of 289 students, 199 were placed during Calcutta University BTech placements 2023. This makes the placement rate 69%. Calcutta University WBJEE cut off 2023 was concluded after the release of the Mop-Up Seat Allotment Result for admission to the BTech course. As per the Calcutta University cut off 2023, the last round closing rank for the BTech course ranged between 1207 and 27788 for the General All India category students. Analysing the last round cutoff data, BTech in Computer Science and Technology turned out to be the most competitive specialisation at Kolkata University. 

Considering the WBJEE cutoff 2023, candidates seeking admisison to Calcutta University BTech programme must secure a rank between 753 and 27788 (for General category). 

To get admission to BTech at Calcutta University, students need to qualify for the state-level entrance exam, i.e., WBJEE with a valid score. Candidate must also meet the minimum eligibility criteria, which is a class 12 pass with 50% aggregate. Eligible students can further fill out the online form (caluniv.ac.in). The university further shortlists students based on their entrance test scores and allot seats.

Calcutta University offers BTech in multiple specialisations. Calcutta University BTech admission is based on WBSEE, subject to fulfilment of the eligibility criteria. The eligibility criteria require the applicants to have passed Class 12 with an aggregate of at least 60%. Additionally, they must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics in Class 12. Hence, a candidate scoring less than 60% in Class 12 is not eligible to apply for BTech at Calcutta University. Such candidates can explore other college and universities offering offline and online BTech courses.

The placement rate for PG (3-year) and PG (5-year) courses has been fluctuating over the past three years. On the other hand, the placement rate for PG (2-year) courses was the same in 2021 and 2022, however it increased in 2023. Yes, Calcutta University does offer BSc courses as general and honours courses for the duration of three years, divided into six semesters. The university offers BSc courses through the affiliated colleges and its campus. To get admission into the courses, applicants are required to complete their Class 12 from a Science stream with relevant subjects. 

No, you cannot take admission at Faculty of law, Calcutta university with CLAT score. This is because CLAT is an entrance test only for admission in National Law Universities in India. The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) conduct entrance test which is WBCHSE entrance test, by which students can take admission at this Institute. Cutoffs will be released by the Institute according to the seats intake and applications. So, to take admissions at this Institute only this entrance test is to be qualified and students cannot use CLAT score to take admissions.
