IPU MBA Eligibility & Highlights 2026
IPU MBA programme is offered across different specialisations. For a GGSIPU MBA in IT admission, IPU conducts IPU CET, followed by a University-level counselling process. For remaining specialisations, admissions are accepted based on a candidate's CAT score. However, if the seats remain vacant after counselling based on the CAT score, then counselling is conducted based on the CMAT score. In case of seats remain vacant, IPU conducts a Common Entrance Test (CET) for IPU MBA admissions.
The University shall conduct admissions in regular MBA programmes in the University School of Management Studies and affiliated institutes. All the specialisations offered under the IPU MBA course along with their eligibility criteria are given below:

No, CAT is not the only exam based on which admission is granted. GGSIPU accepts the CAT percentile for MBA admission basis on which a merit list of selected candidates is released for the counselling round. Moreover, for the MBA in IT course, the university conducted IPU CET exam is accepted. Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University's annual hostel cost is INR 29,500. Mess and welfare fees are not included in the hostel fees. The fee for the mess is INR 36,000, while the cost of the welfare is INR 3,000. Candidates need to submit three demand drafts: one for hostel fees, one for mess charges, and one for welfare charges. Two hostels are maintained on campus for male students, and two are maintained for female students. There are more than 180 single-seat rooms in each hostel. Yes, admission to MBA programme is based on entrance exam. Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University accepts various national and university level entrance exams. In Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, better known as IPU or GGSIPU, there’s a 75 per cent reservation for Delhi students. Delhi students are those students who have completed their Class 12 from a school which is in Delhi. The remaining 25 per cent seats are for students from all over India. So, Delhi general refers to those students who passed their school from Delhi but are in the General category while All India general refers to the students who have passed their school from anywhere but Delhi and are from the General category.

GGSIPU admissions are open. A few more updates related to GGSIPU admissions are as follows:
- PhD admissions for winter session is open. The university will conduct the entrance test on Dec 22, 2025.
- The NEET UG Counselling 2025 has concluded, with the final seat allotment result of the stray vacancy round for admission to MBBS, BDS, and BSc (Nursing) courses.
- The CMAT 2026 exam is expected to be held in Jan 2026 for admission to the MBA, PGDM, and MMS courses.
- The CUET PG 2026 registration process for admission to PG courses is expected to begin in Jan 2026.
- The CUET UG 2026 registration window is expected to open in the first week of Mar 2026 for admission to UG courses.
- The NIMCET 2026 application form is anticipated to be available in April 2026 for admission to the MCA course.
- The CLAT 2026 exam for admission to the five-year Integrated LLB (UG) and one-year LLM courses will be held on Dec 7, 2025.
- The XAT registration process 2026 is now open for MBA/PGDM courses. The last date to register is Dec 5, 2025. Furthermore, the XAT 2026 exam will be held on Jan 4, 2026.
- The GATE 2026 exam for admission to ME/Mtech and PhD courses will be conducted on Feb 7, Feb 8, Feb 14, and Feb 15, 2026.
Total course fee is total of multiple components such as tuition fee, library fee, registration fee, security deposit etc. Indraprastha University MBA fees range between INR 1.5 lakh and 5.65 lakh. Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University is a decent choice to pursue an MBA degree. Talking about the GGSIPU ranking, the University was ranked 65 in the Management category by the National Institutional Ranking Framework in 2024. However, Outlook in its 2024 rankings has placed the university at the 15th spot. IP University also offers placement opportunities to its students. During IPU placements for MBA in 2022 at USMS, the median package offered was INR 5.60 LPA. Additionally, the placement percentage achieved was 91%.
Candidates seeking admission to the GGSIPU MBA course must visit the official website of the University to apply online. Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University MBA admission is based on candidates' performance in the CAT entrance examination. IPU also accepts CMAT scores. The final selection will be done on the basis of the student's performance in the Group Discussion & Personal Interview process. However, for IPU MBA in IT admission, GGSIPU conducts IPU CET, followed by a University-level counselling process.

A notification regarding the counselling process through CUET is released when vacant seats are left after all rounds of counselling. Based on details mentioned in the IPU brochure, the IPU CUET counselling procedure could be in the following manner:
STEP 1: Counselling Registeration
Candidates have to register (could be online/offline) for counselling. Details such as the aspirant name, programme code and other details have to be provided during registration. The registration fee is INR 1,500.
STEP 2: Login & Enrol
Login with the ID and password generated during registration to fill out the application. The IPU counselling processing fee is INR 1,000, which has to be paid during the enrolment for participation in the counselling procedure after registration. Fill in the details as asked and take a printout of the form and fee receipt. Document verification is carried out in online mode based on information provided by the candidate during enrolment.
STEP 3: Choice Filling/Preference Sheet
The preference sheet is available on the GGSIPU brochure. For online mode, candidates will have to visit the university's official website. It must be noted that the preference sheet is valid for only one counselling round. Hence, for each round, a new preference sheet must be filled out for each counselling round.
STEP 4: Seat Allocation
After choice filling, seats are allotted to the candidates based on merit, respective category and region. Candidates can be asked to freeze the seat by paying a sum of fee.
Most of the GGSIPU course admissions are based on entrance test scores. GGSIPU usually don't provide any scope of direct admission to the students. Students must clear the entrance examinations to get admission to the available programmes.

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University offers admission to MBA course through its affiliated college IITM in the full time mode. Candidates seeking admission to GGSIPU must have a valid score in CMAT. Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, however, doesn't release CMAT scores in the public from last few years. Candidates having a valid score in are called for the GGSIPU Counselling based on the scores. GGSIPU accepts CMAT scores for admission to the MBA course across other affiliated colleges as well. Going as per the past year cutoff data, candidates seeking admission can expect an overall cutoff of 85.
GGSIPU has given weightage to both theory and practical UG and PG courses. Students need to secure a minimum of 75% in semester theory exam for UG courses and 60% for PG programmes. For practical, students need to secure a minimum of 60%. A student must pass both theory and practical examination to pass the semester. Students who fail the internal exam are required to re-appear in the previous semester examination to obtain sufficient credits to be promoted to the next academic year.
The average package offered during IPU USICT placements 2024 stood at INR 7.2 LPA. Further, a declining trend was witnessed in the average package offered over the past three years, which is presented below:

BTech tuition fees at GGSIPU is INR 7.6 Lacs for all BTech courses in the academic year 2026. However, candidates are also required to pay other fees in the form of university charges, alumni deposit, development and infrastructure fees and others on top of the aforementioned tuition fees.

If the candidates are applying for BTech courses other than BTech in Biotechnology, then the JEE Mains is a mandatory entrance exam for GGSIPU admission. For BTech in Biotechnology admission, candidates need to appear in either the IPU CET or CUET-UG.

To be eligible for GGSIPU BTech (lateral) admissions, candidates need to clear the BSc course with a minimum aggregate of 60%. Candidates must clear a BSc course with Mathematics as a mandatory subject as well to apply for BTech (lateral) at GGSIPU.
