The JEE Advanced exam is widely recognized as one of the most challenging exams in the world. However, it is worth investigating to what extent the toughness of the exam is dependent on the organizing institute. In this regard, it is essential to examine the role of the IIT that is responsible for conducting the exam and understand how it affects the exam's difficulty level. Additionally, let's check here which IIT will be conducting JEE Advanced in the future.
JEE Advanced Organising Institute: JEE Advanced is an entrance exam for admission to the undergraduate programs offered by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Following the rotation pattern, the JEE Advanced 2025 exam will be conducted by IIT Kanpur. The official JEE Advanced website is jeeadv.ac.in. The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced, formerly known as IIT JEE, has a rich history dating back to 1961. Over the years, the exam has undergone several changes in its nomenclature and format. Also, JEE Advanced is considered one of the toughest exams in the world. In 2013, the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) was renamed JEE (Main), and IIT-JEE was renamed JEE (Advanced). This led to the JEE (Main) becoming the screening exam for JEE (Advanced). In 2018, JEE (Advanced) was transitioned from a pen-and-paper-based exam to a computer-based test mode.
In this article, we will try to understand what pattern is followed by the IITs to conduct the JEE Advanced exam annually, the difficulty level of the exam over the years, and whether or not the conducting IIT impacts the JEE Advanced difficulty level.

Which IIT Sets the Toughest JEE Advanced Paper?
It is important to note that JEE Advanced paper is not set by a single IIT, but rather by experts from multiple institutes.
Although IIT Guwahati has been regarded as the institute that sets the toughest JEE Advanced paper, this perception is not entirely accurate. In 2016, IIT Guwahati conducted the exam and that year's paper was deemed challenging and controversial. However, when IIT Guwahati held JEE Advanced in 2023, there were no reports of an unusually difficult paper. Therefore, it is not possible to anticipate the difficulty level of JEE Advanced based on the conducting IIT.

To summarise, it is important for candidates to bear in mind the following key points:
- Firstly, it is worth noting that the perceived difficulty level of any exam is subjective and varies from person to person. What may be considered challenging for one individual may be deemed moderate by another, depending on the level of preparation for the exam.
- Secondly, it is important to understand that the difficulty level of the JEE Advanced paper is not influenced by the conducting IIT. This factor is independent of the exam's difficulty level.
- Thirdly, it is important to recognise that the difficulty level of the JEE Advanced paper is not constrained by any particular trend over the years. The perceived difficulty level of the exam is based on the opinions of experts and the perceptions of students. The level of difficulty of the exam will always be determined by the level of preparation of the students taking the exam.
