B.Tech. in Biotechnology - Batch of 2025
3.2
It is a gender-based national college.
Placements: 55% of students have been placed in my course as of now. The highest package is 19 LPA, and the lowest package is 3.5 LPA. The average package is 4 LPA. Accenture, TCS, ZS Associate, GreyB and Physics Wallah are top recruitment companies. Most of the students did research internships under several IITs and one student also went to the US for internships. The top roles offered include SDE, analyst, and management roles.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is really good. But sometimes the Wi-Fi stops working and the water supply is cut for hours without prior notice. There are no ACs in the hostel rooms. Some classes have AC whereas in some even the fans don't work. The food here is horrible for girls and boys are given decent food. The college authorities are very gender-based and have rules and restrictions only for girls. Boys can do whatever they want at any time of the day.
Faculty: Most professors of Biotechnology are helpful. Teaching quality is good. The course curriculum lags a lot in making students ready to enter the industry. Semester exams are not that difficult most of the time. Almost 80-90% of students pass exams to enter the next semester.
Other: This course aligns with my interests, so I chose it. The best thing about this course is that professors are very helpful and always there to listen and support us. Students also have good personalities. Some curriculum changes in this course would make it even better. Events, fests, connectivity, and campus crowd are overall good. But if we are a girl, then irrespective of the boy's fight, all the girls are mentally harassed by making phones call to their parents for useless reasons. While the boys are not even questioned once. They are not sent back to their hostels.

Life after JEE-aftermath at NIT Durgapur.
Placements: Placement rates are quite high, with an average package of 9 LPA. Around 85% of students have been successfully placed in some of the top companies in IT and core sectors. Internships are offered from the 1st year onwards, with specialization certificates and amounts ranging from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 20,000.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is quite nice. Starting from classrooms, the rooms are quiet well-furnished along with centralized AC and Wi-Fi connection. The central library provides with almost all the required books, along with canteens and gymnasium are notable.
Faculty: Faculty members are highly qualified with practical knowledge, which helps students to learn more. The curriculum for the 1st year starts from the middle of August and is covered by April. Exams taken are very frequent, and standard questions are asked.
Other: The college has high facilities and strong alumni connections. The events organized are a lot, and the campus is quite aesthetic and peaceful to reside in.

NIT Durgapur - One of the top NITs in India.
Placements: Almost 90 percent of the students are placed in top recruiting companies at good posts. This year, Apple recruited students for internships. The highest package last year was 70 LPA with a minimum of 6 LPA package. There is a training cell that helps students take interviews.
Infrastructure: The labs, classrooms, and library are of great precision as you desire to see in a tier 1 college. There is Wi-Fi connection made available to the students. The hostels provide great facilities with quality food available, and protection is provided against ragging.
Faculty: The faculty members here are highly knowledgeable and make the courses interesting to study. Attendance is the main criterion here, and the campus is absolutely study-based. They provide hands-on readiness towards industry-based jobs. The library provides many top books free of cost.

Know NIT Durgapur from Head to Toe: Life, Placements, Faculty, and More
Placements: Particularly here, everybody is running after software roles and software placements. There are almost no people in the core. On average, 73% of students were placed last year. This year, placements are ongoing. The highest package was 51 LPA and the lowest was 5 LPA. Top recruiting companies include Microsoft, Accenture, Salesforce, Texas Instruments, Qualcomm, PWC, Zomato, etc. Particularly, last year biotech placements were not good. Only 30% of students from the course got placed. They got placement in software companies for software roles. However, many went for higher studies to pursue their research interests in Biotechnology. My seniors cracked IITs, Max Planck University, etc., both in the country and abroad. Top roles you can pursue after biotechnology include working as a scientist and getting hired abroad quickly. It is not a very common career path in India, but it is definitely a great career abroad. From this college, people have secured internships at AIIMS New Delhi, IISc, IITs, etc.
Infrastructure: The hostel facility here can be said to be good. The Wi-Fi works well. The toilets are cleaned regularly. Rooms are well-spaced and comfortable. It is 3 people per room. The mess and canteen also function nicely. You will love the food here, I promise. All classrooms have ACs installed. There is a central library open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day. Labs are pretty good, especially the biotech department labs. They are quite good. Some labs are a bit old, like mechanical, electrical, chemical, etc. The institute is almost 64 years old, so you can imagine why. There is a medical unit, which is good for general help and treatment. For more medical assistance, there is a hospital nearby. The sports and games facilities are also awesome. We have two big grounds on our campus where all students are allowed to play.
Faculty: Teachers here are obviously very qualified and professional. Generally, teachers are very helpful and also give research projects to UG students to work under their guidance. The teaching quality is quite good. The biotechnology course is well-relevant and has a great future, believe me. You may not get software packages after your B.Tech, but it will fetch something much more if you stick to it. Though people from the course do get into the IT field. Recently, one senior got placement in Flipkart off-campus. College exams are a bit tough if you don't study and very easy if you study. I have a CGPA above 9, and I study at the midnight hour before exams. The pass percentage is also good. Students coming here have their JEE, so naturally, the pass percentage is very high.
Other: I chose this course because I love biotechnology very much. It has a great future, trust me. I was ranked 24,000 in the JEE Main 2023 and was getting EE in NIT Durgapur. But I chose biotechnology because it was my passion. Things I wish were a bit better about my college are: the campus could be much larger, senior-junior interaction needs to improve, and the number of clubs is good but should be increased. The clubs should function much more properly so that juniors learn more from seniors. The fests AAROHAN and RECSTACY should have better arrangements, which I am sure the college can manage. Last but not least, the college should assign mentors to students who want to learn sports, etc. Also, the clubs could teach music instruments, etc.

NIT Durgapur is a well established college .
Placements: Approximately 40% of the students are from my department. Top recruiters are some technical companies and edtech companies like Physics Wallah, Byju's, and Aakash. Some students got research internships in various industries and fields. The top roles offered are finance consultant and data analytics teacher.
Infrastructure: The facilities are very good in my department; there is AC in every classroom and presentation screens. Wi-Fi is also available in the library. The facilities of the hostel are not that good because every year you have to live in 3 shared rooms. Mess food is sometimes good but sometimes bad as well. There is a sports culture there and football is very popular.
Faculty: Yes, teachers are very good and highly qualified. But some faculty are not very good at teaching. Yes, the course is relevant because it has so many opportunities in the future. Yes, semester exams in college are relatively tough and the pass percentage is approximately 85%.
Other: I chose this course because I am very fascinated by biology in relation to technology. I think there must be much more interaction from faculty members. There are two fests here: Aarohan and Rectasy.

The college and college facilities is beyond imagination.
Placements: 85% of last batch was placed. A total of 187 companies visited the campus and offered 746 jobs. You need a CGP of more than 7 to be eligible for placement, with a maximum package of 30 to 40 LPA and a maximum minimum of 5 to 7 LPA. But students have to work hard to get a great package. As you know, hard work pays off.
Infrastructure: Campus life is very good. All students have unions, which help them stay together. Clubs are very active, which is beneficial for students and campus fest, teach fest and cultural fest are organized in March or April in a great way. And the library is well organized and has lots of books and the latest journals. Hostels are selected on the batch basis. The hostels are well managed.
Faculty: All professors are well qualified and the way they teach classes is amazing. The professor in our department, Dr. Paul, is among the top 2% of scientists in the world. He has too many journals published all around the world in many countries. You have to work hard to get marks as the syllabus is a little tough, but the semester examinations are pin pointed with the syllabus.
Other: Here you will get the best campus crowd. Fest and events are doing very well. You can participate in Extracurricular activities, club activities, which socialize you greatly. I chose the course because of my interest in this field.

Absolutely great placement, infrastructure and facility.
Placements: 86% students were placed. The highest package was 70 LPA and average package was 13.62 LPA. Top recruiters were Microsoft, Amazon, Deloitte and so on. On campus internship and placement opportunities are present too. Top roles offered are SDE as well as non-tech/core profiles.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi facilities are available mostly in the campus may it be laboratory or library. Library infrastructure is state of art with all sorts of books present. Classrooms are equipped with centralized AC though Wi-Fi ain't available. Food is great enough compared to other hostels.
Faculty: Faculty is highly qualified, at par with any other institutes of national importance and knowledgeable too but their teaching quality isn't that great. They just try to complete their jobs. Course curriculum on the other hand is great, first year has all subjects required though it is too exhausting.

Faculty: Professors are well knowledgeable, highly qualified and too helpful for students. Teaching quality is good. The course curriculum makes students ready for everything. The semester exams are tough. The professors are really helpful in understanding the theory and all.
