NIT DGP. All about the ECE branch.
Placements: 72% of students get placed in ECE this year. The highest package is around 24 LPA, the minimum is 8 LPA, and the average is 11 LPA. The top recruiting companies that come are Micron, Intel, Nvidia, Microsoft, and Texas Instruments. In my year, 8 students get internships in the software domain. In the core domain, no companies come for internships. Software Developer is the top role offered.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi facility is good. There are always polls among halls to improve Wi-Fi if needed. Labs of ECE have improved a lot, and efforts are being made to improve them further. Students are allowed to explore labs and make projects. Classrooms are good and have AC in the new building. The library is good and has all books for GATE and the course. The hostel facilities are good, and the mess quality is decent, although students make efforts to improve it.
Faculty: In ECE, professors are supportive. They are all qualified and provide good information. Although some are strict, others are more relaxed as well. The course curriculum is as per GATE and does make students industry-ready. The semester exams are slightly difficult, but the ECE professors tell students which topics will be asked.
Other: I chose this course because I get this college and branch from my JEE Main ranks. The best thing is that it actually deep-dives into how electrical/electronic components work. There are some more practical sessions and hackathons related to the core. Events and fests are good. The campus is very good. Bengal students do get scholarships from the government. Extracurricular activities are fests and inter-hall sports.

The progressive college makes students' future bright.
Placements: I am an ECE department student. This batch is very good here. The percentage placement is above 95%. The highest package is 60 LPA. The average package is 20 LPA. The lowest package is 8 LPA. Almost 50% of students get internships. Microsoft, Reliance, Tata, etc., are big companies that come to our placement campus.
Infrastructure: A separate department is made for each branch on the campus. 24/7 Wi-Fi is free for us. Digital classrooms are also available for us. A big library named Central Library is made for students. There are 17 hostels on my campus. The hostel is so damm good. Free Wi-Fi is also provided in my hostel. The food quality is so good. There are two big sports grounds on my campus. Many sports equipment is provided by the college for our sports facilities.
Faculty: All professors are very qualified and very helpful. Their teaching style is damm good. The course curriculum is very good and relevant for us as making a good engineer. Exams are very difficult in my college. The passing percentage for theory is 35% and for the practical lab exam is 50%.
Other: I chose B.Tech because I want to become a good engineer and help my society to be in progress. The best thing about my course is that it makes me a good human being and sharp. It makes me a very strong and also a good engineer. Many events like Recstacy, Recrave, Wavecraze, Arohan etc., are held in my college. Scholarships like NSP, Vivekanand Scholarship, etc., are provided to students for their financial help.

Pros and Cons of NIT Durgapur
Placements: After finishing the 5th semester, students can participate in campus placements held at the Career Development Center on campus. The placement rates have been consistently high, like 98.88% in 2020, 88.3% in 2022, and 95.97% in 2023. Big companies like TCS, IBM, Google, Infosys, Adobe, and Amazon recruit students. The median salary for undergraduate (UG) four-year degrees was around 6.4 lakhs in 2020, 7.98 lakhs in 2021, and 6.8 lakhs in 2022. While many students go for placements, some may also decide to pursue further studies like MTech or MBA. It depends on the type of internship you want, whether it's research or industrial. For industrial internships, companies come to campus during your third year. You apply, take tests, and if you pass, you get selected easily.
Infrastructure: Students struggle to find internships. Hostel conditions are not great. Some teachers are strict and rude. There aren't enough sports facilities on campus. The mess food wasn't good; there was too much sweetness in every dish, and potatoes seemed to be in every meal. Variety was lacking in the menu, with limited options available each day.
Faculty: Our college has a top-notch curriculum, rated 9 out of 10. It's designed by experts within the college and includes additional tech-related activities to enhance students' education. We have two semesters each year, with one midterm exam per semester. If we attend lectures regularly and keep up with our work, the midterm exams are easy to manage.
Other: The atmosphere on our campus is truly exceptional. Although not sprawling, the infrastructure is top-notch. With three distinct auditoriums, two outdoor recreational areas, and the impressive SAC auditorium, our campus even boasts a serene duck pond, perfect for unwinding in the evenings. Our library serves as a center of knowledge, housing over one lakh books and providing high-speed WiFi connectivity. Operating from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., it caters to diverse study schedules. Beyond academics, the college hosts a variety of sports events, including Inter NIT tournaments, Hit Hall competitions, and inter-branch contests, including eSports. The lively club scene encompasses technical societies like GLUG, RECurrison, Math and Tech, CCA, SAE, IEEE, ISTE, as well as cultural groups like Strokes, Dance, Music, and Prakrit. Festivals such as E-SUMMIT, AAROHAN, AAVISHKAR, and RECSTACY punctuate the academic calendar, injecting excitement into campus life throughout the year.

Satisfied but there is a huge scope of improvement for NIT DURGAPUR.
Placements: In the previous passing batch of 2023, placement percent was near about 84%, with the highest package being 70 LPA and the average being 13 LPA. In total, 746 jobs were offered in that season. Some of the top companies were JP Morgan, TCS, Samsung, Adobe, Amazon, Axis Bank, Oracle, and many more.
Infrastructure: The facilities that are available for each department are many. Labs, new classrooms, and libraries are all air-conditioned. Labs are well-equipped with most of the machines that are necessary. Hostels are good. However, the quality of mess food is not up to the mark in some of the hostels. Medical facilities are somewhat lacking in terms of necessary equipment.
Faculty: Most of the professors here are just excellent. They are highly qualified and knowledgeable and are always there to help. The course curriculum is also good. They continuously modify the syllabus to make sure that the course is relevant according to modern-day requirements. Semester exams are mostly easy to pass. But if someone wants to get 90+, they must have a good understanding of the subject.
Other: I chose this course because I am interested in semiconductors and want to build a career in it. Also, this was the best option that I was getting at the time of counselling. Many events take place every year. Two annual fests that take place are Aarohan (the technical fest) and Recstacy (the cultural fest). The alumni network of this college is also strong.

Have a great experience studying in the college and experience good peers.
Placements: Any kind of IT roles like the top MNCs (Microsoft and Goldman Sachs) as well as hardware roles and consulting ones. Almost every IT company that comes to college allows the ECE students to sit in for their placement drive. There are hardware-specific companies too but they offer relatively lower CTC. Every company conducts online test followed by a technical interview as well as the HR interview for placements.
Infrastructure: Medical facilities are mediocre often medicines are not available at the medical unit and need to be purchased from outside. Sometimes doctors are also not available or are not that good. Mess food is good but depends on the hall. Other than that there are many restaurants for food within 2 KM radius of the campus. Sports facilities are good. We have volleyball court and badminton court available in every hostel. There are 2 big playgrounds named Lords and Ovals for cricket and football.
Faculty: Teachers are knowledgeable but only a few of them put in effort to make us understand the concepts while the others don't care about it. They blindly read the PPTs just for the sake of syllabus completion. The course curriculum has been the same for 20 years with no updation and it is far from being industry-relevant. Students have to put in effort to make themselves relevant to the industry. Semester exams are light with very little work loads and even the syllabus can be completed by studying for the last week. Almost everyone pass the semester exam.

Sure, but first of all, what is your JEE rank? Last year, the cut-off range was 4.5K to 13.6K for WB state and 3.8K to 9.7K for other state (General Category).

Hi suman! You are not qualified as your score is 51. The cut off for general caste is 81. So, you cannot write JEE Advanced. Getting NIT is not easy with this score as many people would have been qualified. So anyway, you apply for counselling in www.josaa.nic.in All the best!
