Satisfied with faculty, average placements in 2017. Really good infrastructure, good clubs.

Placements: The placement scenario in 2017 was such that there was more number of core VLSI companies compared to previous years. Around 90% must have been placed. The number of software companies is higher than companies in other fields. The highest package offered was 27lpa and the lowest was 3.3lpa. The average might be around 5-6lpa. The roles offered to students were GET, Analysts, SDE, GMT, etc.

Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is provided in every department of the institute and the hostels are well-equipped with LAN connections. Departmental Wi-Fi connections are comparatively faster than the hostel Internet connection. Labs are well equipped and have updated hardware as well as software. Classrooms are neat and clean and more than enough. The campus has 2 tennis courts, 2 basketball courts, 1 swimming pool, 3 multipurpose grounds used for cricket, football, hockey, kho-kho and kabaddi, 1 indoor badminton court and a TT room. Other than that, every hostel has badminton courts and TT tables and facilities for other indoor games such as carrom and chess. The institute has a 24x7 dispensary and Doctors on a timing basis. Some doctors are also available on call. There is a hospital also near the campus for emergencies. The quality of food available is quite good and has different cuisines. The hostel rooms are good depending on the hostel allotted. There is no such issue related to infrastructure.

Faculty: The faculty members in my department are quite helpful and qualified enough. The teaching methods mostly used are conventional but some faculties like to use visual aids for teaching. The student to faculty ratio is roughly 24 student to 1, I guess. The course curriculum has a balance between industrial experience and research-oriented background. Other than that you have subjects to choose from Professional electives from the same department and open electives from other departments. There is an industry visit for every pre-final year student.

Other: The club culture in this institute is very good and students have great interaction with their seniors and they can choose from different clubs to learn different topics of their choice like robotics, coding, automobile design, astronomy, etc. There are various fests all round the year to keep busy. One can easily build their extra-curricular activities.

Absolutely satisfied with the infrastructure and quality of faculty.

Placements: The placement is not guaranteed in the stream of VLSI design and embedded system as the number of VLSI companies recruiting from this campus is very less. But if a student has proper knowledge and clarity over the subject, he/she can get into a decent VLSI organization. The opportunities in different electronics sectors are immense.

Infrastructure: NIT Rourkela is one of the best institutions all over India when infrastructure is taken into consideration. Each and every department of the institute has its own separate building as well as governing unit. The electronics department is one of the advanced one in the campus. All the modern facilities such as Wi-Fi, smartboards, and lab equipment are available.

Faculty: The electronics department is a perfect mix of both experienced as well as young faculty members. The experienced ones handle the management part of the department and the young ones engage themselves more and more into research work. The quality of the faculty members of the electronics department are very good as they have a lot of research work under their belt.
