No, admission to the M.Tech courses is only through GATE in NITs. There is no other provision for admission. Furthermore, after GATE, it is also crucial that the candidates with scores equal to or more than the cutoff take part in CCMT counselling. The final selection is based on merit in both selection rounds.

Candidates with a bachelor’s or an equivalent degree in an appropriate branch of Engineering of a minimum four-year duration are eligible to apply.
