IIT BBS is really good for academics in mech, but as for college life, it is as bad as it can get.
Placements: Around 70 to 80 percent are placed. The highest package is 69 LPA, the lowest is not disclosed, and the average is 12 LPA. Mahendra, Google, etc. are the top recruiting companies. Almost all students get internships. As per my knowledge, the majority get placed because every senior I know has got placed and one even got 62 LPA. So, it is pretty good.
Infrastructure: Facilities are top-notch; no complaints since the infrastructure is good, and as per my branch equipment, everything is good. The mess we complain about it, but it is as good as a mess can be compared to other messes of other colleges. We have a 24/7 open hospital with insurance, and sports facilities are really good.
Faculty: Teachers are really helpful; they motivate us to read more than required, more than the syllabus. Some faculty members don't teach well, but it is never felt that the teachers don't know their own subjects. I find it to be really difficult. The 1st year was easy, but now from the 2nd year things are getting very real and tough. In a subject out of 100, 4 to 5 students fail roughly.
Other: I have always been inclined towards mechanical, and I couldn't qualify for CS, so this was the obvious choice. Budget is an issue, but for the 2nd generation, most of the money goes into construction, so we feel a lot of budget issues. Campus life is very bad, I must say.

Review of Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar.
Placements: Placements in our college are good only for non-core branches. If you want to do a software job, then only take admission to this college. You will get very few companies for a core job, and mostly those companies prefer B.Tech, but not dual degree students. Companies will not allow dual degree students to attend their tests.
Infrastructure: The food served in a mess is quite good. There is 24x7 access for Wi-Fi. All classrooms are air-conditioned. There are 5 volleyball courts, 4 basketball courts and 1 hockey ground. SAC would be constructed in 5 years, which will have all the indoor sports facilities.
Faculty: The mechanical and metallurgical faculty members are great here, but I do not want to say anything about other faculty members. The course curriculum needs to be updated. Their teaching quality is not that bad. Teachers are ready to help if you approach them by yourself.
Other: If you are concerned about placements and want to take CS, ECE and EE branches, then only join this college or else opt for any other college.

Good college that produces global citizens every year.
Placements: Out of the 35 students registered in the mechanical engineering course, 32 people were placed. The highest salary offered was 39 LPA. The average salary offered was around 11 LPA. Most placements were into the core sector. Tata Steel, Tata Motors, IOC are some companies that recruit students from our college. Not sure about the salary ranges in my branch.
Infrastructure: Our college has a building for each school. We have a School of Mechanical Sciences for Mechanical Engineering department. There are many labs for various interdisciplinary courses. We also have a workshop. Wi-Fi facility is available with the Institute id in hostel rooms and all the academic buildings. LAN is also available in hostel rooms. The food in mess is mostly average. But there are other options for better food. There is a dispensary for medical needs. We also have an ambulance for students who cannot go by their own and also for emergency purposes. Gym facilities are available in hostel. There is a playground which is common. Many new buildings and playgrounds are coming up as a part of the second phase construction.
Faculty: The teachers here at IITBBS are really qualified. Most if them (I guess all) have done their PhDs from reputed institutions (mostly old IITs and sometimes institutions abroad). The teaching quality is exceptional especially the professors of mechanical engineering courses are very helpful. The course curriculum is complete and will make any student industry ready. There are optional courses which students can do on the side to improve their skills.
