Beautiful college with good faculty, nice people of Assam, zero ragging, and good sports facilities.
Placements: I don't have an idea about how many students get placed, but it is more than 85 percent in electrical engineering, as they go to the core sector and the non-core sector. I do not have an idea about the highest and the lowest packages. Top recruiting companies for our course are Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Infosys, and Cognizant. I do not have an idea about internships. My course students become electrical engineers, and if they go to non-core sectors, then they can become software engineers.
Infrastructure: Usually, our phone's internet will not work as well as it does in a Tier 1 city. It provides LAN, which has high-speed, so we can enjoy the internet. Classrooms are okay. It has Asia's largest library. Labs are good. Food is good, as we get both vegetarian and non-vegetarian canteens, so we can enjoy. Medical facilities are available in a hospital. There is a SAC building with a badminton court, so we can learn. To play table tennis, we can go to the sports complex. There are very good sports facilities.
Faculty: Mostly, teachers are very helpful and very good. They are very qualified, and most of them teach very well. The course curriculum is relevant, and it makes students industry-ready. Semester exams are tough to moderate, but as students come after clearing the JEE exam, they mostly pass. Only a few students fail. The pass percentage is more than 95 percent.
Other: I got this course through my JEE rank. The placement should be increased. Tecnoesis and Incandescent are the two best fests organised here. Day-to-day activities always happen here. It also conducts mini activities like Garba night. Advay and Aaveg are clubs that organise dance competitions and movie nights.

It offers good education and facilities. Placements are better for non-core roles.
Placements: 50-60 percent of students got placements in the civil course. The highest package offered last year was 19.90 LPA, and the lowest package was 4 LPA. The average package offered ranges from 6-7 LPA. The top recruiting companies in our course are L&T Construction, Tata Projects, NCC Limited, etc. 70-80 percent of students got internship opportunities. Top roles offered in our course are site engineer, design engineer, quality control engineer, planning engineer, etc.
Infrastructure: There is Wi-Fi on the whole campus. There is a civil lab in the department building and many classrooms. There is a central library which is open from 10 AM to 8 PM. The quality of facilities in our hostel is average, as there are few indoor games and an old building. The quality of the mess is not good in our hostel. The canteen facilities are good. Medical facilities in college are good as they provide the necessary medicine when needed. There are two grounds and many courts that cover almost all sports, and sports facilities are good with respect to other aspects.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. Their teaching style is old school type. They come to class and give lectures for their respective time period and go. They do not cover doubt and carry all students. The course curriculum is relevant, and it prepares us for industrial material, and in labs, we will experience it. Semester exams are not as tough as the entrance paper. Almost all papers come from notes, so it will be easy to prepare. The minimum pass percentage is 33 percent.
Other: I chose the civil engineering course because it allows me to create infrastructure that directly impacts people's lives. The best thing about this course is that we deal with real-life problems, such as how the building will be constructed, how the bridge will be constructed, and it will be very enjoyable. One thing I wish could be better about my course is to change people's perspectives about this course. They think that in this course, there is more hard work and less income, but this is not true. Many activities and many fests are organised on our campus every year.

My review about this college.
Placements: There is a placement cell which invites a lot of companies and firms for job opportunities. There are also opportunities for those who are willing to be an entrepreneur because students and the college also organize many times of hands-on workshops, research projects, and internships, as well as eminent scientists and professors talk to encourage students. So many companies come to recruit people. Internship fairs are organized by the placement cell of our college, and they recruit students from all courses. Packages vary from company to company, maximum being 12 LPA, and minimum 4 LPA.
Infrastructure: Hostel infrastructure is different for different hostels. There are 9 hostels for boys in this college and 3 hostels for girls. Mess and canteens are present in every college and have a quite amount of seats, so every student can sit here at one time and eat. Bathrooms are present in sufficient amount. You don't need to take tension for infrastructure.
Faculty: Faculty members are highly educated and experienced as well. There are a lot of senior faculty members. Junior faculty members have also joined in recent times. We like the teaching of some and don't like the teaching of some others, just like any other college. They are always there to clear any type of your doubt. They also motivate every student to do well. They are also carrying out their research work. Many have bagged prestigious awards for their research works. Exams are semester based, two semesters per year. Examination fees are also to be submitted online. The exams were taught also. The course curriculum is good in this college. We study different subjects every semester. We almost cover every part of Physics in the whole course. Practicals are the part we are even more serious about. We love that.

Fees are lower compared to other NITs.
Placements: Placement of our college is really amazing as compared to all the NITs in India. As this year is 2025, the highest placement stood at 96 LPA from the mechanical engineering department, which is really a great thing. Also, the average placement of our college is 13 LPA, which is really good.
Infrastructure: I really loved the playgrounds, as these are huge, and also the inter-branch competition, which is held every year, is very exciting. The hostel facilities are quite good. The mess food is average but adjustable. There is 24/7 internet, no issue with that. The bathroom is well furnished, and housekeeping is really good. They come every morning and clean the staff. Classrooms are spacious and digitally updated. The library is good, and it is open for 24 hours. There are many grounds for different sports.
Faculty: The faculty members are very cooperative. Professors can speak fluent English, so there are no language barriers among students and faculty. They are well educated and well disciplined. The course curriculum is one of the best in the world, as there are many things that other colleges don't implement, but our college does. The world-class course curriculum is the reason for the success of many students who have studied here.

The college and the surroundings are also very good.
Placements: In the B.Tech Mechanical Engineering course, around 75–80 percent of students get placed in the latest placement drive. The highest package offered is around 18 LPA. The lowest is 4 LPA. The average package is nearly 7 LPA. Top recruiting companies include Tata Motors, Mahindra, L&T, JSW, Cummins, Vedanta, Infosys, Wipro, and TCS. Nearly 60 percent of students receive internships, with companies like Tata Steel, JSW, IOCL, HPCL, and L&T offering good opportunities. Top roles offered are Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET), Design Engineer, and Production Engineer.
Infrastructure: The campus is beautiful, surrounded by greenery and lakes. This gives a calm and refreshing vibe even during stressful exam weeks. The infrastructure is pretty good. It includes well maintained hostels, labs, and sports facilities. The Wi-Fi sometimes tests your patience, but that is part of the fun here.
Faculty: In Mechanical Engineering, there are five teachers from the top 2% of the world who joined two months ago. The course curriculum is relevant, and we do labs that help us adapt to the industry. The exams for Mechanical Engineering students are very tough. We have to be able to handle complex computations on our own. Academically, the college provides a decent environment for learning. Some professors are truly inspiring and supportive. While others might make you question your life choices during lectures. Still, the overall academic culture encourages teamwork, innovation, and curiosity.
Other: Our batch is a mix of tech enthusiasts, gamers, and night owls. They somehow manage to finish assignments right before the deadline. We are balancing chain breaks with project submissions. It creates memories that last longer than our sleep schedules. NIT Silchar provides one of the most vibrant college experiences.

Satisfied with the placement record in the last 3 years.
Placements: As I am from the CSE batch, my college has a good placement record overall and a better one in the CSE branch. In my course, nearly 70 per cent were placed, and the highest package was 55 LPA in 2025 and an average package of over 15 LPA in CSE. Oracle, Tata, and Atlantis are top recruiters. Some students also got placed at Amazon and Microsoft. Over 40-50 per cent of students have internship opportunities. Data scientists and data engineers are the top roles offered during placement.
Infrastructure: NIT Silchar was built on a total of 625 acres. A nature-rich campus with more than 20 lakes and 2-3 gardens. Classrooms are digitalised. The infrastructure for the CSE course is good, labs are well managed, and a LAN (Ethernet) is provided to every hostel room. Hostel maintenance is above average, and there are 9 boys' hostels and 4 girls' hostels. Food quality is good, and our college has a good sports management team. We have a dispensary clinic in the college itself.
Faculty: Every teacher is well qualified. They have good knowledge about the subject. They were helpful for exam purposes. Their notes were very valuable. NIT curriculum is relevant and makes students industry-ready. Curriculum is improved according to upcoming technology changes. The semester exams' difficulty level is medium to hard. The pass percentage is 85-90 every semester.
Other: I chose this course because I had an interest from the beginning, and this college is good, especially in CSE. I wish there could be more change in the curriculum of 1st year students. Campus fests and events are good. We have a technical fest in the odd sem and a cultural fest in the even sem.
