NIT is one of the best colleges in Tamilnadu.
Placements: Around 65% of the students got placed from college because of the corona outbreak. The highest salary package offered was 12.6 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered was 6 LPA. The average salary package offered was 8 LPA. Top companies like GE, Hyundai, Baker Hughes, and Lincoln Electric visited our campus for recruitment. Internships provided by the college were around 65-70% in Lincoln Electric and Baker Hughes. Roles offered were as sales head, design engineer, and marketing head.
Infrastructure: Labs in our college are with costly machinery but none of them is working perfectly. Most of the instruments are outdated. The hostel is having good Wi-Fi and old buildings. There are more dangerous snakes, insect intrusion, and ants. Those who are staying on the first floor will not face any problems. The food served is tasty and the quality is good. Since there are many messes, there's a huge competition between them. So they serve a good and variety of food to attract students towards them. Our college has a hospital functioning 24x7. Even we have an SBI branch inside the campus. The best part is the library which comprises a huge collection of books. There are many grounds, indoor courts for badminton, basketball, tennis, volleyball and separate outdoor stadiums too. The college is also having a gym which is open in the morning and evening.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college were helpful if we approach them. Otherwise they not even consider us. Most of the faculty members have good knowledge, industrial exposure, and high experience. They teach only for the sake of completing the syllabus. We must study on our own to gain knowledge. The course was structured well and is more related to mechanical syllabus, which makes student industry-ready.
Other: I opted for this course because it is the only industrial course that I could get according to my GATE score. The best thing is the placements which are similar to mechanical placements. Industrial visits will make the course more practical. Technical and cultural events are held on campus in which we can enjoy and learn a lot. Festember and Pragyan are the two events that will be worthful to attend. Sportsfest is a sports event that is held in October every year. Ruby Cup is a separate college tournament for cricket which starts in January. The best part about the Ruby cup is that all the matches are played at night. For M.Tech students, an amount of Rs. 12400 will be credited as a stipend, but this will not be enough to pay the fees. The campus is almost 800 acres and has good road facilities. The hostel, mess, and departments are far apart. So we use cycles to reach on time.

I'm absolutely satisfied with our college due to its facilities and many extracurricular activities.
Placements: As of now, around 50% of the students from our course got placed with the highest salary package of 14 LPA. Top recruiting companies for our course are General Electric, Hyundai, etc. As of now, only 7% of the students got internships from our course in Lincoln Electric. This year, due to COVID-19, placements and internships are somewhat not good. We didn't get any information about the top roles offered in our course.
Infrastructure: Facilities like software and internet facilities are good, but lab facilities are not that much good as many machines do not work properly. The quality of the hostel facilities, mess, canteen, medical facilities, sports and games is very good. The only problem here is there is no reverse osmosis water in all the hostels, and only limited hostels have RO facilities.
Faculty: Teachers here are helpful and also knowledgeable. Their teaching quality is good. Industrial metallurgy is based on industrial related things only, so the course curriculum is also based on that. But they have to update the course curriculum with some current industrial practices and should make internships compulsory so that students get more practical knowledge.
Other: I am a mechanical engineering student, and I want to join in this college. For my GATE marks, I got industrial metallurgy, materials science engineering and welding engineering courses. But industrial metallurgy course is somewhat related to my mechanical engineering like it includes concepts which I have studied like foundry, metal forming, metal joining, etc. So I chose this course. Events like Festember, Pragyan, PGion, etc., are conducted. Fests like sports Fete and also NITT Fete are organised to prove our skills, and I got a prize for our department. Campus surroundings are neat and clean. Extracurricular activities are conducted as per students interest, and everything is allowed. There are many clubs to express and develop ourselves.

The course curriculum is revised every two years and all have Washington accord accreditation.
Placements: The worst placement in any engineering colleges will be for Metallurgy department. Sadly such is the case in NIT-T too. In Industrial Metallurgy 2018-2020 batch some 7/15 students got placed. The highest package was 13 LPA and the lowest was 4 LPA. General Electric, Rolls-Royce, Alstom. Only 1 got an internship in Lincoln Electric. Managerial roles in production, supply chain, R&D roles in biomedical companies.
Infrastructure: All basic labs for metallurgy are available within the department. Sophisticated equipments like SEM, XRD are available in OJAS facility. There is no specific composites laboratory but it can also be managed in other labs. Mess quality is far better than most colleges. Hostels are old buildings hence are not up to mark. Canteen and medical facilities are good. Sports are given importance and we've annual sports meet.
Faculty: All are Ph.D. holders and have many papers in their names. NIT-T is better than many new and less famous IITs. They always guide us through mini-projects, curriculum. My department faculty is the best in the whole campus. The course curriculum is revised every two years and all have Washington accord accreditation.
Other: This is the course I got for my GATE marks. Placements should be improved. Events: all depts have their own symposiums, ours is Mettle. Tech events: Pragyan-international techno-management event. Fest: Nittfest, Festember.
