As per the QS World University Rankings, IIT Delhi is the third best institute in India and 174th globally. In the NIRF rankings, it has been ranked at the second spot under the "Engineering" category. Candidates get good placement opportunities. The highest international and domestic package offered was INR 2 crore per annum and INR 1.25 crore per annum. In IIT Delhi placements, 50 students received package more than INR 1 crore per annum (domestic). Thus, it is great if a candidate gets admission at IIT Delhi.

A total of 1,200 offers were made and 1,150 students were placed during the Phase 1 of IIT Delhi placements 2025. Further, more than 50 international offers were made during IIT Delhi Phase 1 placements 2024-25.

As per NIRF report 2025, the key highlights of IIT Delhi M.Tech placements over the past three years are presented below:

IIT Delhi have a policy of not disclosing higher salary packages offered during placement drives. However, according to a press release released earlier, more than 50 students were offered salary package above INR 1 Crore per Annum during placements 2023.

IIT Delhi MTech admission is completely entrance-based. Candidates seeking admission to the IIT Delhi MTech course must appear for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). However, BTech graduates from IITs with an overall CGPA of 8.00 out of 10 are exempted from GATE and are eligible for direct admissions. Apart from this, candidates are also requested to fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria to be eligible for IIT Delhi MTech admission.

Yes, any candidate who has passed BE/ BTech/ MSc or equivalent with a minimum 60% aggregate are eligible to apply for IIT Delhi M.Tech programme. Aspirants must also qualify GATE for admission to MTech. Aspirants with a score equal to or more than the cutoff also have to go through a counselling round. Once selected, aspirants have to pay a course fee to confirm their seat in the institute.

IIT Delhi admission process is conducted on the basis of entrance exams, except for the PG Diploma course. The university accepts several national-level entrance exams for admissions such as JEE Main, GATE,  CAT, IIT JAM,  UCEED, etc. The university conducts its application process in an online mode.

JEE Advanced Cutoff 2025 for BTech course ranged from 126 to 5733 for students in the General AI category, so therefore a student should attain a rank of 5733 or preferably lower to increase their chances of admission to IIT Delhi. At end of IIT Delhi Phase 1 placements 2024-25, a total of 1,200 offers were made and 1,150 students were placed. International offers came from more than 15 organisations across multiple global regions. The placement rate recorded during IIT Delhi placements 2023 and 2022 stood at 84.94% and 82%, respectively.
