    NIT Surathkal college review.
Placements: The overall placement rate for B.Tech students is sitting at a solid 93%. Pretty impressive, right now, to get the best offers, it's crucial to keep that CGPA above 7. With some hard work, folks are landing packages around 20 LPA. I even know a senior who scored a whopping 55 LPA. Internships kick off in the 3rd year, and it's not uncommon for students to snag pre-placement offers. The average package hovers around 12 LPA. During internships, big names like Microsoft, Oracle, Texas Instruments, and Uber come to NITK.
Infrastructure: Our course benefits from great facilities and infrastructure. The campus has a central library, Wi-Fi access, and digital classrooms. The hostel accommodation is good, with tasty meals served in both the mess and canteen. There is also a multi-sports complex available.
Faculty: Most teachers are quite experienced and have good qualifications. The set of people most likely to receive support from them is the students who are aimed at job placement. The subject matter is directly related to the financial sector, especially in areas like accounting and auditing. To sum up, the staff is very competent and can achieve great results.

Absolutely a good college in order to learn, with better infrastructure and good placements in 2026.
Placements: In civil engineering, we have 70% placed in different companies, and rest are for higher studies like M.Tech, MBA, M.Sc. Our college placement cell, CDC, has been doing great work for past 3-4 years. Highest package is 22 LPA, and the lowest is 4.5 LPA. Top recruiting company is BPCL. 30% of students got internships, and top roles are associate engineering and supply chain.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure in our college has been developing over last 4 years. We got new hostels this year, and last year they inaugurated a new lecture hall. Wi-Fi is pretty good, and labs are maintained and equipped with the latest machines. Classroom has good ventilation and proper spacing, with a smart board also. We also have 2 libraries, one of which is 24hrs open. Food quality in mess is normal, and canteen has good food also. We have a medical centre, also with all types of doctors available. We have many grounds in college for sports, such as indoor and outdoor as well.
Faculty: Teachers are very knowledgeable and qualified. Teaching quality is also modernized, like they teach on a smart board and also on a blackboard. For my branch of civil Engineering, the course curriculum is enough to be qualified as a civil engineer. Semester exams are of a moderate to hard level. Pass percentage is like 90%.
Other: I chose the Civil Engineering course from JoSAA counseling through JEE main exam. Best things in civil engineering course are labs and practical training. Everything is fine with my course. Civil Engineering connection is with many other colleges, and they also conduct many events in college just to discuss and prepare necessary improvements for civil Engineering sector.

My college has good infrastructure, and facilities are also good.
Placements: In my college, approximately 95% of students get placed, with the highest package being 54 LPA and the lowest 11 LPA. Some subjects in my course are very good. About 50% of the students in my course receive internships.
Infrastructure: Facilities provided to us are very good. Wi-Fi facility quality is also excellent. Classrooms are well-maintained and have Wi-Fi access. Regarding hostels, the food available is average. Medical facilities, sports, and games are also well-maintained.
Faculty: Teachers are very good, qualified, helpful, and knowledgeable. The semester exams are not too difficult but slightly above average, with a pass percentage of about 97-99%. The course curriculum is relevant and also prepares students for the industry.
Other: I choose this course because I love working on computers. The fests are very good.

B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2028

    4Placements4Infrastructure4Faculty4Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
Review of NIT Surathkal - National Institute of Technology.
Placements: All I want to say about placements is that mechanical students tend to get selected more into non-core, management, and other sectors than into core mechanical roles. So, yes, the placements look good on paper, but you need to realize there aren't many jobs available, and even if there are, they don't pay well.
Infrastructure: The hostels are pretty decent. The first-year boys' hostel is basic, but after that, the second-year Shivalik hostel is basically a hotel. The third and fourth-year single rooms are excellent. I think you won't be disappointed with them. They are better than most government colleges, though they have some issues too.
Faculty: The college offers a basic engineering education. It's the same as every other college, with nothing new an old curriculum that's recycled repeatedly. The teachers try to teach, but their assistants (TAs) often outperform them in teaching quality. It's pretty standard. Like every other college, there's nothing particularly innovative.

Great campus life with good placement and private rooms, a place like heaven for engineering.
Placements: Placements here are good. From 2019-2023, there was almost 99% placement in the IT department, and in 2024, about 91% students were placed in the IT department. The highest salary varies from 55 LPA-62 LPA, the average was about 24 LPA, and the median was about 21 LPA. Companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Oracle, Morgan Stanley, Dell, etc., are major recruiters. Most of the roles offered are developer. Around 30%-40% of students got internships.
Infrastructure: There are enough buildings for classrooms. Wi-Fi is available throughout campus through captive portal login. Two libraries with air conditioners are available. There are 3 grounds. Two sports complexes are too good. 12 boys' hostels and 5 girls' hostels are available. Mess food is decent. We get both vegetarian and non-vegetarian mess. 3-night canteens are available, which serve midnight. There is a food court too. We also get a private one. Campus has a good connection to road (NH66), which runs between the campus, splitting it in two. There are guest houses available. Overall, very good infrastructure.
Faculty: Professors are well-qualified. The teaching is not that good I would say. Curriculum is relevant to the existing trend, and also makes students industry-ready. Semester exams are decent, not too hard or easy. Pass percentage varies from 20% marks to 30% marks. There is a grading system in NIT Surathkal. Semester can be balanced with other activities.
Other: I chose this course out of my interest in the IT field. The best thing is that it's a chill branch and provides all the CSE courses for a slightly lower cutoff. Placements are top-notch. Some professors don't take classes properly and don't give deserving marks. This could be improved. Incidentally, our cultural fest is India's second-biggest fest. Engineer is our technical fest. All the fest events are too good to experience. There are also other events. Many scholarships are provided by institutions as well as private organizations. Scope is given for extracurricular activities like dance, music, art, etc.

B.Tech. in Mining Engineering - Batch of 2026
Offered by NIT Surathkal - National Institute of Technology
    3.4
    4Placements4Infrastructure3Faculty3Crowd & Campus Life3Value for Money
My review of Mining Engineering at NITK, Surathkal.
Placements: I am a B.Tech mining engineering student from the 2026 batch. On-campus internships are negligible, though a few students secure off-campus internships. For placements, Vedanta & JSW are the major recruiters for Mining. Vedanta gives good packages than any other core company. But they require a maximum gap of 1 year, which means the gap between the 12th/PUC and engineering should not exceed 1 year. Its CTC is 16 LPA ( in 2025) for mining engineers, and other core branch has around 14 LPA (2025).
Infrastructure: Hostels are good. In the first year of B.Tech, 3 students need to stay in a shared room. In the second year, 2 students need to stay in a shared room. In the 3rd & 4th year, students are allotted a single sharing room in mega tower hostels. Now all rooms have LAN facilities, but it fluctuates.
Faculty: Mining department has only around 10 - 11 faculty staff. Few are good and few are worse. Scoring is easy in mining. But for mining engineering, you won't get good materials on the internet or in the library (no good books there for mining), and the professors won't provide lecture materials.
Other: If your ranking is low, then choosing mining engineering at NITK is the best option if you want to study in NITs.
