IPMAT exam is of high difficulty level as per the previous year trends. Read the article below to know the answer to how many hours should an aspirant spend to crack IPMAT 2026 exam.
IPMAT preparation 2026 requires a daily study timetable and practice. But, one of the most commonly asked questions by IPMAT aspirants is how many hours to study daily for IPMAT 2026? There cannot be a fixed answer for this for every aspirant. However, students can make a daily timetable according to their strengths and weaknesses.
It is important to know that students need to devise a smart daily study plan to ace the exam. Students should not assume that if they study for long hours, they will fetch good scores in IPMAT. Quality should always be over quantity. Regular practice, knowing basics and revision play a huge role in IPMAT exam 2026 preparation along with study hours. This Shiksha article shares insights on how many hours to study daily to crack IPMAT 2026.
IPMAT is a competitive exam that tests students on Quantitative Ability and Verbal Ability. The quantitative section is known for being concept-heavy and time-bound. Therefore, students need to dedicate more time to mathematics, particularly if they are not confident in the subject. Verbal Ability, on the other hand, requires regular reading practice, vocabulary building, and comprehension skills.
The ideal number of study hours varies depending on a student’s current preparation level. Beginners or those weak in mathematics should aim to study for around 4 to 6 hours daily. This allows them to build strong fundamentals, practice a variety of questions, and gradually improve their speed. Students with an average level of preparation can manage with 3 to 4 hours of focused study each day, while those with strong basics may only need 2 to 3 hours for revision, mock tests, and practice.
However, simply counting hours is not enough. The effectiveness of those hours is what truly matters. Studying without focus or direction can lead to wasted effort and frustration. A well-structured study plan should divide time between Quantitative Ability, Verbal Ability, and mock tests. Ideally, 40–50% of the time should be spent on mathematics, 30–40% on verbal preparation, and the remaining time on tests and analysis.
Consistency plays a crucial role in IPMAT preparation. Studying for a few hours every day is far more beneficial than long, irregular study sessions. Regular practice helps in better retention of concepts and improves problem-solving speed. It also reduces exam stress, as students feel more prepared and confident over time.
Mock tests are another essential component of preparation. They help students understand the exam pattern, improve time management, and identify their strengths and weaknesses. However, the real benefit of mock tests lies in their analysis. Students must review their mistakes, understand the logic behind correct answers, and work on weak areas. This process ensures continuous improvement and prevents repeated errors.
For students or working professionals with busy schedules, managing time efficiently becomes important. Even with limited hours, effective preparation is possible through short, focused study sessions. Early mornings can be used for concept building, while evenings can be dedicated to practice. Weekends can be utilized for full-length mock tests and detailed analysis, ensuring steady progress.
At the same time, students should avoid burnout. Studying for long hours without breaks can reduce productivity and lead to fatigue. A balanced routine that includes short breaks, proper sleep, and a healthy lifestyle is essential for maintaining focus and efficiency.
In conclusion, there is no fixed number of hours required to crack IIM Indore IPMAT. The ideal study time depends on individual capabilities and preparation levels. What matters most is consistency, smart planning, and focused effort. With the right approach, even a few hours of dedicated study each day can lead to success in the exam.

IPMAT is usually considered a bit more difficult than SET, as IPMAT exam has advanced mathematics and is calculation intensive. The exam also have a sectional time limit. But, SET is easier in terms of difficulty, does not have negative marking or sectional timings.
