IPMAT exam pattern was released by the IIM Indore. As per the released pattern, there were three sections in the exam; quantitative aptitude, verbal ability, and quantitative aptitude. The exam is conducted in CBT format and has 90 questions in total with 120 minutes being the time duration. Having the IPMAT exam pattern knowledge helps the students to do well in the examination.

Note: Maximum and minimum scores are the highest and lowest scores obtained in sections by students from the eligible pool. Total score of candidates in the exam will be the sum of scores obtained in all three sections.

Knowing about the exam pattern and the IPMAT Indore syllabus 2026 helps students in IPMAT preparation. The syllabus of IPMAT is divided into three sections, including; Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability, quantitative ability (Short Answers). 

  • Quantitative Ability sections of the IPMAT exam are divided in 2 parts, i.e. Short Answer Type Questions and Multiple choice questions. QA sections test the student's mathematical and numerical ability.

Q:   Can I take admission to integrated programme at IIM Indore without IPMAT?
A: 

No, IIM Indore IPM admission is not possible without appearing for IPMAT. It is an aptitude test conducted by Indian Institute of Management, Indore. Score obtained in aptitude test is given a weightage of 65% in Composite Score which serves as basis of final selection.

Q:   Can I take IPMAT if I did not study maths in Class 12?
A: 

Yes, one can appear for the IPMAT exam even if they didn't have mathematics in Class 12. There are no specific requirements of the IPMAT exam for having studied mathematics. But, maths is helpful for IPMAT exam. 

Q:   Can I prepare for IPMAT without coaching?
A: 

Yes, many students have cleared IPMAT without any formal coaching. What matters is how well one understands concepts, apply them under timed conditions, and adapt based on mock test analysis.

There are 25 short answer type questions in the Quantitative Aptitude (SA) section of IPMAT Indore exam. Overall there are 90-100 questions.

The exam is conducted in the computer-based test mode or online mode every year. The complete IPMAT admission process is online. Students who have filled the IPMAT application form online on the official website will be required to appear for the online exam on the designated exam centre. The students need to reach the exam centre in order to take the online test. For the multiple-choice questions, students will be required to select the radio button on the computer screen against the correct answer and for the short-answer type questions, students will be required to type in their answers on the answer tupple given on the screen.
