  1. Quantitative Aptitude (MCQs): 18-20 questions
  2. Quantitative Aptitude (SA): 9-10 questions

IPMAT Preparation Strategy 2026 for Students Weak In Maths

For students who are weak in maths, IPMAT preparation can take a lot more time than normal. Students should first focus on strengthening the basics. IPMAT can seem difficult due to not having  a strong hold on the basics in topics such as percentages, averages, profit and loss, time and work, etc. Students should not directly jump to difficult topics and rather revisit the school level concepts and refer to school books such as NCERT Mathematics books from Class 9 to Class 10. Once the students are clear with the basic concepts and formulas, preparing for the advanced level questions can seem doable.

Once the students are prepared with basics, they can begin with basic arithmetic and algebra questions and practice them regularly. A large portion of the IPMAT question paper includes questions based on arithmetic and algebra. Students can then move to topics such as number system, geometry, data interpretation, etc. Students can then eventually work on practicing and learning concepts simultaneously.

Students should take sectional mock tests and solve IPMAT PYQPs to get an idea about the kind of questions and difficulty level. Students should make short notes on Maths formulas and theorems and keep revising and revisiting them to retain them.

Accuracy and speed are two important components of acing the IPMAT exam 2026. There is negative marking in the IIM Indore IPM exam 2026. So, accuracy becomes more important than the number of questions attempted. So, students should not only focus on attempting the questions, but also attempting them accurately. They should try to attempt only those questions which they are confident about and avoid the guesswork.

Cracking IPMAT in one month can be difficult. But a month of practice and revision can fetch good IPMAT scores. IPM preparation 2026 should include a good study plan to prepare for IPMAT in a month.
