IIT Kharagpur has an awesome campus life.

Placements: Almost 62% of the students got placed during the pandemic sessions. The highest salary package offered is about 21 LPA, and the average salary package offered is 10 LPA. The top recruiting company is Affine Analytics Indian Oil Corporation R&D. Internship opportunities are less in our course.

Infrastructure: IIT Kharagpur is one of the top colleges in India, and there are no flaws in the academic facilities. The department is in the main building of the IIT Kharagpur campus with all the facilities. All labs are designed very well. The hostel is not 5-stars, but there are very good rooms with a cupboard, desk, chair and bed. The food is not as good as I expected, but the canteen is satisfactory. Medical facilities and sports and games facilities are very good.

Faculty: Professors are qualified and knowledgeable. I think they have very good knowledge of the subject, but the teaching quality is not up to the mark. The course curriculum is relevant to our industry. While explaining some important concepts, our professors also tell us about the companies which are using this concept in their industry.

Other: I have chosen this course because I have some connection with geography. In this course, I am learning a depth knowledge of geography. IIT Kharagpur is known for some of its campus events and fests. Our great celebration of IIumination is popular among the colleges. Some fests like Spring fest and Khtijiz are two important fests of our campus. Our campus has a large crowd of students, faculty members, co-workers and bicycles. Many events happen at the campus, like the inter IIT competitions and inter-hall competitions. IIT Kharagpur has a maximum number of societies and clubs. IIT Kharagpur has its own 3 helipads and also a theatre. There are lots of things to explore.

It has the best campus life.

Placements: Around 65% of the students were placed through campus placements with an average salary package of 14 LPA in the passing out batch of our course. Top recruiters are Cairn India, ONGC and Schlumberger. Only around 20% of people in our batch got internships through campus in companies like Vedanta Ltd and some tech startups.

Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure for our department are pretty good. Wi-Fi is available at all places on the campus at high-speed. Labs are comforting and easy to work in. The library has all the books you can think of, and a great repository of lacs of books is available. Facilities in our hostels are below average. Food in the mess is mostly terrible, but the canteens in each hall provide decent food, which is way better than the mess. Medical facilities are also below average. Most of the doctors are ignorant, and they don't even look for symptoms and just gives the same prescription for many problems. There are some horrible rumours around those doctors. Sports facilities are pretty good. We have almost all the sports in our annual Interhall General Championship, and there are more than decent facilities for every available sport.

Faculty: Teachers here are mostly ignorant and obnoxious. They think that UG students are not good and prefer their time on PhD and PG students. Teaching quality varies from professor to professor. The course curriculum does not matter as students can secure a job in placements in any sector if they will to do that. Campus life makes students industry-ready.

Other: Many events are taking place during each semester to keep everyone interested. The so-cult fest spring fest is the most fun event. There are many chains on the campus like CCD and Subway, which provide items at a subsidised price. Restrictions are very less like the curfew time for both male and female, which is only 11 PM to 3 AM. Night canteens are open till 2:30-3 AM.

Review of IIT Kharagpur - Indian Institute of Technology.

Placements: Placements have always been crucial for the students at IIT Kharagpur. Almost 75-80% of students get placed every year. Top recruiting companies like Schlumberger, Vedanta limited and ONGC visit our college for placements. Though only a few that is 5-7 students from a batch of 60-70 students get placed in core companies and the rest of the students choose non-core companies. The highest salary package offered this year is 21 LPA, and the average salary package offered is 10 LPA.

Infrastructure: Our college provides facilities like classrooms, libraries, and well-equipped labs with high-end technology. Classrooms are air-conditioned with good air ventilation. Wi-Fi facility is good, but it has some issues regarding the speed as complained by many students. Each hostel has its own pros and cons with the availability of single, double and triple sharing rooms. Facilities like playgrounds, gym room, indoor games facilities like badminton and table tennis are very well-equipped. Food served to the students varies from slightly good to very bad in most of the hostels. Many students prefer to have their food from canteens. Medical facilities lack experienced doctors, which is an issue.

Faculty: Professors in our course have great knowledge in their respective field. Most of the faculty members are senior that is of age more than 50, so students may find it problematic in the beginning. The course curriculum is very well planned. Students need to take project and training under the guidance of professors and experienced faculty members to become industry-ready.

Other: The scholarship is arranged for those pursuing major in the field of science as of this branch. The best things about this course are to get a grasp of the importance, worth of the minerals surrounding you and the evolution of the earth. The student life is one of the best experiences you can get before you get to work in corporate companies. Fests are organised by the spring fest committee, and various departmental fest organised at our college bring joy.

It has a good campus life, and the courses offered are very good whereas placements are excellent.

Placements: Placements in our college are fairly good. Some major core companies for our department are Schlumberger, ONGC, and Cairn India. Most of the companies coming to placements look for software profiles and are open to all departments. From the department, almost every student is either placed in a company or goes for research in foreign universities or pursues some other academic lines.

Infrastructure: The entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled. Department has some of the finest and exclusive labs in Asia. Library is huge and also has access to the national digital library. New hostel rooms are very well furnished and food quality is also decent. Institute provides health insurance at just Rs. 50 for every student.

Faculty: Teachers are very highly qualified but teaching quality varies from person to person. Some teachers are excellent in what they do and you won't ever miss any class. But at the same time there are teachers who although are very highly qualified but you may not like their way of teaching. But overall there is a very good balance. The course curriculum is relevant according to the industry requirements. Exams are of moderate difficulty. The only thing that can save you is attending classes irrespective of how boring the class might become. The pass percentage is 33%.

Other: I chose this course simply because I was allotted this course in my JEE counseling. There are a lot of research opportunities in foreign countries and top universities across the world. I think the course curriculum is a little outdated and should be reconsidered and restructured according to the recent industry requirements. The campus is very happening. Some major fests are conducted every year which are the spring fest, the cultural fest, IIT Kharagpur, and Kshitij the techno-management fest of IIT Kharagpur.

Candidates who had appeared in Class 12th (or equivalent) examination for the first time in 2023 or earlier, are NOT eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2025, irrespective of the combination or number of subjects attempted/offered.
