I'm honored that I got an opportunity to study in one of the best institutes of my country.
Placements: I didn't opt for placements. I wanted to go for Ph.D. so placements isn't a option I'm looking for. Though you have to register at CDC for placements links to which will open in last year. Vast no. Of companies offer placements every year paying a hefty salary.
Infrastructure: CAMPUS: You will fall in love with 2.2 which is a oval road around which all the halls of residence are located. There is a on campus high-speed Wi-Fi for every student who can use for unlimited data. You can roam around on the cycle (you have to buy) and not fatigue. The campus is a 4000+ acres making it one of the vast campuses in world. LIBRARY: The library is very large and air-conditioned. It contain each and every book possible ( indian authors and foreign authors both) and no students finds it difficult to read the most expensive book on planet. CLASSROMS: Classrooms are well-equipped with projectors, white boards, chairs, air conditioning and all other things you can imagine of. CANTEEN: Their is a canteen dedicated to each and every hall of residence. ( I resided in LBS and I love nescafe outlet ) You have a separate place where Wao Momo, CCD, Mio More, Smart Pind etc. Restaurants can be found. I loved the on campus Subways. GAMES: Their you can find all the possible grounds and courts for each sport. Infact their is a dedicated Tata Steel Sports Complex for every athletic sport. HOSPITAL: Their is a dedicated B. C. Roy Hospital that is available 24*7 for students in case of emergency. The doctors tier are very well trained and dedicated to the service of students.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful and what I imagined that their will be a language barrier because that's Bengal and I'm from Haryana but it's not so. Bengali is a sweet language and you'll learn it in no time. What I personally felt was that IIT KGP recruits the best of the best people of respective field and the professors are really expert in their discipline. Not to brag but I was taught by the leading cancer biologists and my one Teacher was the member of Royal Society of Biology. I will be grateful to them for all the knowledge.
Other: I chose this course because I'm really fascinated by the role of microbes in disease progression and what can be done to prevent those diseases. I believe even a single productive research paper can change the course of advancements in Science and help people dealing with deadly diseases. EVENTS: The most famous event is the spring fest which is a one week long festival which happens every even semester. I can't explain the fun even in a 1000 word article but I assure that you are just gonna love the vibe.
