M.Tech Hydrology at IIT Roorkee (IITR).

Placements: The placements of the Hydrology Dept at IITR can be broadly divided into two categories : Core & Miscellaneous. Rays Power Infra, Arup engineering Design and Consulting Services, Capillary Technologies, Hi-Tech Robotic Systems, Khosla Labs, Redbee Infra along with some government agencies form the core placement division ; Apart from that companies like Google, Amazon, Goldman Sachs and other IT & Finance companies also offer placement alongwith teaching positions at various universities like LPU.

Infrastructure: Hydrology dept. At IITR is the only dedicated dept. For Hydrology in the entire Indian S. Continent and most probably in South East Asia. A diverse crowd of students coming from various countries like China, S. America, Ethiopia, Tanazania and the rest can be found. The classroom and lab facilities are truly magnificient. Wi-Fi labs with the latest equipments, qualified and dedicated professors and the largest library on Hydrology in Asia are the few perks you would get to enjoy at IITR.

Faculty: In the first year, the course is divided into 3 specialisations : Surface Hydrology Groundwater hydrology Watershed Management You can choose any of the above ( although you can attend classes for all of the above ). The second year is devoted entirely to research, i.e. for your dissertation. If you have interest in Hydrology and related fields then you also have very high chances of getting into Ivy League colleges for Ph.D.
