Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Varanasi offers a two-year MTech programme spread across four semesters. Yes, IIT BHU offers Merit-cum-Means scholarships to 25% undergraduate students. Besides, there are several endowment scholarships offered by the Institute. Some other facilities are also provided to undergraduate students in the form of Institute free studentship, scholarships, reimbursement of mess charges and pocket allowances to the students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. All the students (non-sponsored) admitted to M.Tech or MPharm programmes are provided financial assistance equivalent to the Junior Research Fellowships. The hostel fee at IIT BHU is INR 300 per semester. This fee does not include electricity charges, Gymkhana, Medical, Amenities and other hostel services. Candidates who have BE/BTech/MSc or equivalent with (a) CGPA 6.00 on a 10-point scale or 60% marks in aggregate for General/OBC (Non Creamy Layer)/EWS. For admission to BTech at IIT BHU, candidates must appear for the JEE Main and paticipate in the JoSAA counselling process. JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) has been set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) to manage and regulate joint seat allocation for admissions to over 100 institutes, including IITs, JoSAA3 IIITs, and Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs). To apply at JoSAA, candidates must register and apply via the JoSAA official website. The counselling has an application fee, which must be paid while submitting the form. The candidates need to pay the seat acceptance fee as per the fee details given in the table below:

The leading recruiters during IIT BHU placements 2026 included Google, Microsoft and ZS Associates. The number of offers made by some of the companies such as ZS Associates, ICICI Bank and Meesho were 41, 28 and 24.
IIT Varanasi Cutoff 2024 for admission to BTech/Integrated BTech/BArch courses was concluded. The IIT Varanasi Cutoff 2024 was released throughout 6 rounds, for different categories under the AI quota. Among the General AI category candidates, the Cutoff ranks across multiple specialisations closed at a range of 1071 and 22390. Among the OBC AI category, the Cutoff closed at a range of 524 and 8177.

IIT BHU accepts JEE Advanced score, followed by JoSAA Counselling for admission to the BTech courses. IIT BHU cutoff 2023 was concluded after Round 6 of the JEE Advanced Seat Allotment Result. As per IIT BHU cutoff 2023, the last round closing rank for BTech was ranged between 1366 and 24641 for the BTech courses. BTech in Electrical Engineering admission at IIT BHU is done through the JEE Advanced rank, followed by the JoSSA counselling process. Therefore, going by the 2023 cutoff pattern, IIT BHU BTech cutoff 2024, which is to be expected, could be in the range between 3000 and 3500.

No direct non exam based admission is not possible for B Tech programs at IIT BHU. Admission is based on qualifying for national level entrance exams like JEE Advanced for B Tech and GATE for M Tech followed by counseling processes like JoSAA or COAP.
