The best thing about IIT Varanasi is Varanasi and good placements.
Placements: Our college has 80–85% placement records, which are among the best in the IITs. Last year, we had 23 students in Metallurgy IDD, and 18 of them got placed, and 2 went for higher studies. So, if you want to get placed, you will definitely. Last year, for Metallurgy, 5 students got placed in core companies like Jindal Steel.
Infrastructure: The PC Ray Hostel that we got in the first year is the best among hostels in IITs. The rooms are spacious, the corridors are big, and it is equipped with all facilities like LAN, Wi-Fi, washing machines (most IITs don't have), vending machines, etc. The food is okayish, but the canteens are good.
Faculty: Professors are very qualified, but students don't actually understand the teaching in class, and most of them study on YouTube. Especially in metallurgy and mechanical, professors don't give good grades here, so academics are a little on the tough side.
Other: Well, fests are just good. Like this year, Kashiyatra and Technex were held together in just a week, and there was a lot of mismanagement. Day 3 also got canceled, but overall, it is really good. If you want to enjoy, you can enjoy.

Its a reputed college with more than 100 years of alumni network.
Placements: Almost 85% people got placement this year. The highest package is 44 LPA. Average package is 18 LPA. Microsoft, exawizards companies are hiring. Many got internship also. 40 percent got internship. Top roles offered are Software engineer and Data analytics.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is pretty good. Water supply is good. Wi-Fi is super fast. We can access library for almost 14 hour a day. Its open everyday. Quality of food is also adequate. Canteen facility is pretty good. Sports event like spardha held here. The playground are well maintained.
Faculty: Professor are highly qualified. Most of them got their higher education from abroad. Course curriculum is relevant and many got offers from core industry also. Semesters exams are not easy but pass percentage is almost 100 percent. Professors are knowledgeable.
Other: The best thing is got exposure on different field. The campus is crowded. Fest and events are the best among all IITs.

Our college satisfies our hopes about a college life. Placements are really good.
Placements: Many companies come for the core and non-core branches. Most of the student go to noncore (e.g. programming) branches. The highest package in non-core is 46LPA and average is around 18-20LPA. In core, good companies visit like TATA, etc. Average package in core branches is 10-12LPA. We have many internship opportunities in our college.
Infrastructure: In hostel and campus, Wi-Fi is everywhere. There is an amazing library in our campus. We have many sports facilities. We have good mess food including both veg and non-veg. We have satvik mess too for students who don't eat garlic and onion. We have 3 canteens in our hostel. We have free medical facilities in our campus hospital.
Faculty: Faculty members in our institute are well qualified and they teach very well. We also have tutorial classes to ask our doubts and solve the questions. They are always helpful. They make the student industry ready. Exams are a little bit difficult but everyone passes in them with a good CGPA. Pass percentage is 35%.
Other: Campus is very beautiful. Many events occur every year like kashiyatra, fmc weekend, spardha, etc. Scholarship is also available for the students whose financial condition is not so good. Students with income <5LPA have to pay 33% of the tuition fee and students with income <1LPA get full tuition fee remission.

Review of IIT Varanasi - Indian Institute of Technology.
Placements: The college provides 100% placements. The highest salary package offered is 49 LPA, the lowest package is 8 LPA, and the average salary package is 18 LPA. Companies like Microsoft, Google, Sprinklr, DE Shaw, Amazon, Flipkart, etc., come here. Core students got internships at IISC Bangalore, CSIR Kerala, IIT Bombay, etc. Top roles offered are SDE, SWE, data analyst, research intern, etc.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available 24x7. Proper food is available in the canteen, and the canteen is open till 2 am. The best lab facilities and digital classrooms are available. The library is open till 11 pm. A mess and canteen are available till 2 at midnight. Two-seater rooms are available in the hostel. Non-vegetarian and paneer are provided 2-3 times a week. Review of IIT Varanasi - Indian Institute of Technology.
Placements: According to the placement statistics for the year 2021, the students in the metallurgy department have done exceptionally well. The percentage of the placed students is not only 100% but also placed in the top companies across the world. Clearly saying that not more than 10% of the students in the metallurgy department prepare for their core field jobs. Almost everybody wants a career in the tech sector, including various job profiles like software developer, data analyst, consultant, quant researcher, etc. The foremost reason is that our institute has a rich coding culture and unique peer groups competing positively for their overall development. The top companies that hire in non-core fields are Google, Amazon, Uber, JPMC, Morgan Stanley, Salesforce, P&G, and much more and those hiring in core fields are Tata steels, Jamshedpur, and two or three more. Actually, in core fields, students prefer to study more as they go for higher degrees like MS, Ph.D., etc. Internships are not very easy to get. The latter have to gather a lot of significant skills to get hired in internships but there is no doubt about getting placements. Everyone will surely get placed whether in core or non-core fields if the latter will have enough skills. The maximum package offered will be around 28 to 35 LPA in non-core and the minimum would be around 10 to 12 LPA in the core.
Infrastructure: The hostel provided in the first year is DhanrajGiri 2, the newly built 7-story hostel has all facilities like almirahs, study desks, lifts, etc. The food quality is average but the canteen is amazing having everything you want. There is also medical insurance for every single student providing all medical facilities from pills to an MRI scan, it's all free. For sports and games, there is a newly built SAC -student activity center having games like squash, table tennis, boxing, taekwondo, badminton, lawn tennis, volleyball, etc. Note that every sport has its court and is olympic-sized. There is also a gym which includes every modern machinery.
Faculty: The professors are well qualified and experienced from 20 to 30 years. There is not a single professor who did not have done a Ph.D. in their respective fields. They know every minute detail of using modern types of equipment and laboratory. But the approach of teaching is not up to the mark causing a little difficulty in understanding the subject. The course is relevant as this is the major source of development in the world as it includes researching new materials which can work more efficiently. You will get hired but, generally, students do higher studies for gaining more knowledge regarding their interests.
Other: There are clubs like DFZ for dancing, IMC for singing, entrepreneurship cell, business club, literary club, etc. The fests like spardha and kashiyatra are also organised on a large scale where teams came from different institutions across India to participate in the competitions.

Q:   I have 3000 rank under OBC quota in JEE Advanced. Will I get selection at IIT Varanasi?
A:

IIT Varanasi has released the category-wise cutoffs for various BTech specialisations. For BTech admissions, JEE Advanced is conducted widely by IITs. A JEE Advanced rank of 3000 under OBC category can be considered as the decent rank, however, this rank is insufficient to secure BTech in CSE programme in 2024. Other than CSE, the top courses for which candidates have the option to get a seat at IIT BHU are Chemical Engineering,  Mechanical Engineering,   Metallurgical Engineering, Mining Engineering and Ceramic Engineering.
