B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2026
3.6
4Placements4Infrastructure3Faculty3Crowd & Campus Life4Value for Money
My college is good, but my department is not.
Placements: In my department, ie. Mechanical engineering. All the students who were eligible are placed. Basically, CG above. The highest package is 18 LPA from EIL, and the lowest package is 3.6LPA from Proxima and Infosys. Top companies are Amazon, Flipkart, and PSUs. Around 40% students got internships from my course in BIS, Honeywell, and Mondelez. Top roles offered are for a Design Engineer, Data Analyst, and GET.
Infrastructure: The facilities of NIT JALANDHAR are awesome. Institute Wi-Fi is everywhere, even if you dont recharge, you will be surviving easily on Wi-Fi throughout the whole campus. In my department, the labs and some of the classes are not air conditioned. Labs, I can understand maintaining the temperature of the setup, but in classrooms. The quality of the mess food is average, edible. In the first year, I got such good food, but when I jumped into the second year. I got food poisoning and stomach infections, but my body adjusted. Medical facilities are good, we mech boys take out multivitamins, skincare.
Faculty: Mechanical teachers are famous in our whole college for their strictness. Teachers are helpful, but only a few. The course curriculum is outdated. Ice engines and all. Semester exams give no gaps, no preparatory gaps. They set hard papers. You have to study to get good grades.
Other: I will be honest, the campus life is boring, 0 exposure. I chose this course because I wanted to be placed in an automobile company. Events are dead. Scholarships are mainly for low income families with an annual income of below 2 Lakhs.

Lively campus life and scope for improvement in industry exposure.
Placements: In chemical engineering, around 50% of students were placed in 2021. The highest package for chemical engineering was 16 LPA. The lowest package was 3 LPA. Average package was 5.5 LPA. Recruiting companies were Reliance and Trident. 20% of students got internships at Reliance, Trident, and IOCL. Junior engineer due to covid placement was less.
Infrastructure: NIT Jalandhar's chemical engineering department provided well-equipped labs, Wi-Fi, modern infrastructure, and good library. Hostel facilities were decent. Mess was very nice. Food was good. Rooms were clean in single room 2 occupancy for 2 years, 3 occupancy for 1st year, and 1 for 3rd and 4th year.
Faculty: Teachers were helpful. All teachers were Ph.D. qualified. They had good knowledge of the course. Course curriculum was relevant. Mostly for IOCL and production, IT subjects were there so students could take placement in IT industries. Passing percentage was 4 CGPA. Exams were average, not that much hard.
Other: You could take a course based on your marks in JEE exam. I have an interest in chemistry so I chose this course. Overall, you will enjoy here. It provided a nice experience. 2 major events happen every year.

It has good infrastructure, well-qualified faculty members, and average placements.
Placements: Our 7th semester is completed, but only 50% of students got placed. The average salary package offered is more than 15 LPA and the highest salary package offered is 53 LPA by Google on-campus. The lowest minimum salary package offered is 3 LPA. An internship is not offered in our course. In our course, the top role is offered by NXP at a salary package of 24 LPA.
Infrastructure: Facilities are above average, and the infrastructure is growing well. The Wi-Fi facility is good. It has good classrooms, and the library is good. Mess food is average. It also provides other facilities like washing machines, corridor cleaning, etc. A canteen is there. There is a medical facility.
Faculty: Faculty members are good, well-qualified, and knowledgeable. The course curriculum is average. Case topics are old instead of trending topics, so I cannot say whether it makes the students industry-ready or not. Students have to prepare on their own to become industry-ready. Semester exams are not difficult. The pass percentage is more than 90%.
Other: I did not choose this course, and I got this course from my JEE Main ranking.

Good for career but a little bit disappointing campus life. It is small space close to other areas.
Placements: There are 85 students eligible for placements and out of which 75 get placed. The highest package offered is 18 LPA, and the lowest is 8 LPA. Top recruiter is Trident. Top roles are in management and sales. 88.8% of students have gone for placements. Placement statistics are good in college.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of college is good. There are two libraries, one is traditional and other is digital. Students can borrow books from the library. There is good service of Wi-Fi on campus. Medical facilities are also good as there is one dispensary open from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM daily. There are two ambulances on campus for emergencies. Mess facilities are also good. Food for every region is provided as per the weekly schedule. Hostel rooms are good for every year but in case the first year goes for BH1, BH2 because good facilities are provided there. There is a gym at the college.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified. Curriculum in some branches are relevant to today's industry. College exams are tough enough if someone has not attended lectures properly. Question papers are based on class learning. You have to attend proper lectures and take notes from your teacher.
Other: So my batch is 24-28 B.Tech mechanical engineering. My father is an automobile mechanic so I had having typical interest in this field. It is also considered an evergreen branch of engineering so I chose this. Some of the subjects are now irrelevant to our course college is removing them one by one. Events are good in college they happen only once in year the large event utkansh for three days. Campus crowd is also good. There is no ragging system. Students enjoy the company of each other. Scholarship section is also there which is very helpful.

The college has provided good placements in 2025 and has a good infrastructure.
Placements: In 2025, you can check the details online to see if they have been updated. The ICE branch achieved 100% placement, with the highest package coming from Microsoft at 52 LPA and an average placement of 10 LPA - 10.67 LPA, with companies like Microsoft, Trident, and Flipkart hiring. The roles offered involve controlling instruments within any company.
Infrastructure: There are well-organized labs and classrooms in a separate department that comprises the ECE branch. There are 2 libraries: a new library, which is fully AC and used for study and contains PCs, and an old library that has thousands of books and a study area. Wi-Fi facility is provided all around the campus. There is a good supply of internet in the library to ensure no pause in study.
Faculty: Teachers are talented and knowledgeable distributors, and everyone loves to attend their classes. Teachers are qualified up to the top level, and some teachers are researchers in specific industries. Although some teachers have average teaching quality, but rest are superb. This is sufficient to make students industry-ready. The pass percentage is 40%, and semester exams are moderate to a high level, but it may be possible that it could be easy if mid-semester were so tough.

It is a decent college with an average JEE Main rank.
Placements: I'm currently in the first year, but as we always stay connected with our seniors we get to know various things related to placements. Up to my knowledge in the CSE branch, placements are decent in my college with the average package of 14 LPA and the highest package is 52 LPA this year. The highest package is offered by Google. Students got many offers from other top MNCs like Amazon and Microsoft as well. All these companies hire for the software developed engineer post. About 80% of students got internships in their 3rd year in top companies like Microsoft, Amazon, etc.
Infrastructure: My department building is new, but it is not at that level of what it should be. The old library is not that good but the new one is better but doesn't have books as it is for self-study purposes. Hostel food is okay but rooms are congested. Hostels have 4 sharing rooms for 1st-year students.
Faculty: All teachers are PhD holders and have great knowledge in their respective fields except some. The course curriculum is fine and is according to the NEP 2020 also it is similar to what other colleges have. Semester exams are easy and we hardly study 1-2 days before semester exams.
Other: I am interested in computer science technologies and more into AI and ML, so I chose the CSE course. A more practical and handful learning can enhance students' skills required to get their dream job or role. Fests and co-curricular activities are amazing here and we all get the chance to dive deep into each other culture and learn about their traditional festivals which we all celebrate with joy.

No, candidates are not allowed to get direct admission to M.Tech courses at NIT Jalandhar. To be eligible for admission, candidates must complete their BTech courses with at least an aggregate of 60%. Additionally, candidates must have appeared in the GATE entrance examination and CCMT counselling.
