B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering - Batch of 2028
1.8
Dissatisfied with placements, infrastructure, and the education course.
Placements: Around 75% students are placed this year in my course. The highest package is 36.42 LPA, the lowest is 3.30 LPA, and the average is 10.25 LPA. Top Recruiting companies for my course are Siemens, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Mercedes-Benz, and Bharat Petroleum, alongside prominent IT and consulting firms such as Amazon, Qualcomm, Intel, Deloitte, TCS, and Infosys. Around 25% students got internships in my course in companies like Reliance, L&T, etc. Top roles offered in my course are core positions in Power Systems, Power Electronics, and Control Systems, to non-core roles in AI/ML, Data Science, and Software Development.
Infrastructure: The hostel and course departments have no Wi-Fi. The quality of food in Mess is below average, and in some hostels it's the worst. Canteen food is roughly average. Medical facilities are not very good. Many sports and games faculty members are also lacking, like a football ground, a proper gym for everyone, badminton, etc.
Faculty: Teaching quality is not as expected as from a NIT here. The course is more focused on theoretical knowledge instead of practical knowledge. The course is not proper according to the faculty. Difficult levels for exams are average. Overall, the pass percentage is good.
Other: I thought Electrical Engineering would be a great choice for my career, and it also matched my interests. The syllabus must be more focused on practical rather than only theoretical knowledge. Events and fests are very poor due to huge corruption. Extra-curricular activities are also lacking. The infrastructure is very poor.

Overall, average. College administration is very strict everywhere in college.
Placements: Last year's batch of 2025 around 69% placed, (the highest salary was 20.1 LPA by BPCL and the lowest was 5 LPA, and the average was around 10 LPA - 11 LPA). Top recruiters are Reliance Industries, AM/NS, Adani, BIS, Gensol, BPCL JSL, Mastercard, Accenture, Deloitte, TCS, Piramal Finance, etc.
Infrastructure: No Wi-Fi in the department, no AC in the classrooms, no table lift systems, and no drinking water facilities. The central library is very good, has AC, Wi-Fi, and other facilities. Every person knows the reality of hostels and their food, and other facilities.
Faculty: The EE department has a few good faculty members who are very well at teaching, qualified, and helpful towards students. Having an outdated curriculum and syllabus that contains useless subjects make students industry-ready. There is no fixed pattern to conduct semester exams. Again depends on the faculty members.
Other: I got this EE branch like everyone, got a random branch at the time of JOSAA counseling. Due to outdated curriculum and syllabus, this branch has become too hectic to handle. The improvement part is totally dependent on the administration of the college due to lack of student unity and power. The campus environment is average, and other things are below average.

B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering - Batch of 2028

Overall, it is a good college with some flaws.
Placements: There are two types of placements in Electrical Engineering. Core and non-core. Non-core includes coding, AI, and ML, along with electrical engineering skills, whereas core includes only electrical engineering skills. Non-core placements have higher packages than core ones. The average package for core is 8 LPA to 9 LPA, while for non-core, it is 11 LPA to 12 LPA.
Infrastructure: Our department has labs, classrooms, a lift, a hostel, an office, and seminar halls. The problems with our department are that there is no network inside the building, and during summer, it gets hot. There is a central library on our campus, which is a three-story building with a lift, and the entire building is air-conditioned. Talking about the hostel, there is only one girls' hostel for all B.Tech, M.Tech, Ph.D., and M.Sc. students. However, security and sanitation are well maintained. The building has eight floors and multiple lifts. There are two messes with good-quality food. There is a gym, a TV room, and a sports room. The infrastructure could be better, and ID cards should be made compulsory. There are many tech events, cultural events, and other small events taking place all the time. You enjoy it a lot and also learn many things. All the clubs here are managed by students, and to enter any club, you have to go through a simple recruitment process. There are a lot of extracurricular activities and sports as well.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified but strict in college. The teaching quality varies for each faculty. The course curriculum is good, ensuring that students gain basic knowledge from each branch in the first year and transition to core subjects in the second year. There are mid-semester exams (30 marks) and end-semester exams (100 marks, later converted to 50) for each semester. There are about two to three class tests for each subject. It is rare for students to fail.

Companies which visit for electrical students are mainly for the IT department, and they offer the lowest packages but at last students must choose these companies.

Review of Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat.
Placements: I am a part of the 2022-2026 batch of electrical engineering at SVNIT, Surat. Our batch saw an impressive placements of 80%. The highest package is 36 LPA in Texas Instruments. The average package of our branch ranges from 7-9 LPA. In addition, placements and internships rate of our batch is decent.
Infrastructure: Our hostel and the infrastructure are so good. For girls, there is one single big hostel for all years. But for boys, separate hostels are provided for each year. Security, medical and canteen facilities are also good. The quality of mess food is also good.
Faculty: Teachers in SVNIT are highly qualified and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is excellent. The course curriculum is well-structured. The college also provides additional support to students through various means like mentorship sessions, research projects, etc.
Other: Fests in SVNIT are also good, and 2 fests are so good named Sparsh and Mindbend. There are also many events like Shamiyana and sports event. It also has club events. Extracurricular activities like sports and clubs are also very active.

Review of Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat.
Placements: The placement in the SVNIT has been consistent from the past years, but this year due to the recession in the industry, there is a dip in the median package. The company started to visit the college in the fourth year. The highest this year was around 25 LPA and the average package with somewhere around 12 LPA.
Infrastructure: From the first semester, the college starts directly with the core subject instead of teaching the irrelevant subject. Hostels are decent. The mess is better than other NITs. The hostel provides a TV room study room, gym magazine, and newspapers. There is a night canteen in the hostel.
Faculty: Faculty members are great and have done well. Their Ph.D. is in very reputable universities and have done research in their field. They are great but teach the old syllabus which is not relevant in today's engineering. Exams vary from easy to medium level and you can pass the exams with just by little bit of study.
Other: This NIT is situated in the middle of the city and every important thing is just a smiles away from our college. There is a BRTS station just in the front of our main GATE which makes it easy to travel throughout the city. This college was established in 1961. The college has a great reputation in the city in the college. You can find a club of your interest. All the clubs in the SVNIT are pretty active.
