Studying B.Des from IIT is a dream for every design aspirant. But it is not possible for every student to fulfill this dream because the competition is too high and the seats are limited. So one should always have a backup plan. Read on to know the backup plan for UCEED.
Clearing UCEED for B.Des is not only an option to be successful in the Design field. There are so many options besides IIT UCEED. candidates can go for B.Des programmes from other institutions like NIFT, NID, Pearl Academy, etc. These institutes provide great career options in design. In fact, NIFT and NIDs are the top choices for Design aspirants after class 12th for UG programmes. Many of these colleges conduct their own Design entrance test, many take admission based on merit, some take admission based on the basis of portfolio or interview.
The admission cycle for popular design exams like NIFT and NID starts in September-December, and the exams are conducted in December- February. The exams are held offline in CBT Mode at the test centres. Around 50,000-60,000 candidates appear for these exams.

NIFT cutoff for a participating NIFT is the last rank for which admission is offered in for a particular programme and category. This means, if a candidate fails to score a rank equal to or higher than the cutoff rank, they don't get admission. Typically, a higher ranked institute will invite: More applications Higher-ranked candidates This in turn pushes up the cutoff in higher ranked (or popular) institutes. Likewise, a lower-ranked institute will receive comparatively fewer number of applications, and mostly from lower-ranked candidates. This means, cut-off in these institutes are lower making it much easier to get admission.
PU DAT 2026 exam will be conducted by Parul Institute of Design to check aptitude, achievement, motivation and perception abilities of the candidate. Selection process will be held in three stages
1. DAT- Design Aptitude Test
2. Portfolio Round
3. Personal Interview
