GATE 2022 dates announced, two new papers added

GATE 2022 is scheduled to be held on February 5, 6, 12 and 13, 2021. Two new subjects have been introduced this year taking the total number of GATE papers to 29. Read the details below. 

IIT Kharagpur, the organising body for GATE 2022, has confirmed that two new papers -- GE (Geomatics Engineering) and NM (Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering) -- have been added this year. 

The two new papers will provide direct benefits to our graduates in these two areas, especially when the country needs human resources with advanced capabilities in shipbuilding industries and geo-informatics,” Director of IIT-Kharagpur VK Tewari said.  

The detailed information brochure along with new website for GATE 2022 would be introduced soon by IIT Kharagpur. The eligibility criteria to appear for GATE 2022 have been expanded to include students having BDS and MPharm degrees. A total of 8,58,890 students are expected to appear for GATE this year. IIT Kharagpur will soon release the online application for GATE 2022. The exam will be held through computer based mode for a duration of 180 minutes. A total of 195 centres have been designated for the conduct of GATE 2022 examination. Interested students can find more details on gate.iitd.ac.in.

GATE is a computer-based MCQ-based exam conducted for admission of students to postgraduate engineering programmes (ME/MTech) offered by IITs, NITs, IIITs and other institutes. As per the GATE exam pattern, there will be two sections in the question paper with a total of 65 questions to be answered within a span of three hours.

Yes, 50% aggregate is a decent accepted score for IIT Kharagpur admissions but this 50% does not mean that the student will get the admission as scores in entrance exams are quite important.
