The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) revised RRB ALP  2026 exam dates. The exam for ALP will be conducted from February 13 to 18, 2026. RRB Technician exam will be conducted from March 5 to 9, 2026. The admit cards will be released four days before the exam. The city slip will be released 10 days before the exam. The exam dates comprises major events related to the exam. The important events related to RRB ALP exam are explained below:

Release of Notification: RRBs published RRB ALP and Technician notification on its official website in PDF form.  RRB ALP notification carried information related to the exam.

Application form: RRB invited online applications as per vacancy for its 21 zones. Candidates could fill RRB ALP Application Form online from their respective zones. 

RRB ALP exam: RRB ALP selection process comprises two stages (first stage CBT and second stage CBT) which is common for ALP and Technician. In addition, candidates who opt for ALP and qualify the CBT 2, are required to undergo Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT). Based on the performance of candidates in Part A of the CBT 2  subject to their qualifying the Part B (For Technician posts), they are called for document verification. For ALP post, candidates are called for document verification based on Part A of CBT 2 and CBAT subject to qualifying Part B.  

RRB ALP Result:  The result is announced online separately for different stages of the recruitment process. The roll numbers of qualified candidates are made available in PDF format. Along with the RRB ALP Result the scorecard and cutoff marks are also released.

Q:   How many posts are there in RRB ALP?
A: 

RRB conducts RRB ALP & Technician exam to fill posts of assistant loco pilot and technicians for different railway zones across the country. A total of 9970 vacancies have been announced for RRB ALP 2025 exam (CEN 01/2025). In 2018, a total of 64,371 vacancies were announced for the exam. Out of these vacancies, 27,795 vacancies were for Assistant loco pilot and 36,576 were for Technicians

All the stages of RRB ALP exam are conducted online. The language of the question paper is in Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Manipuri, Konkani.

RRB ALP CBT 2 exam is held in 2 shifts. The shift 1 timings are 9:30 AM to 12 Noon, whereas shift 2 is conducted between 2:30 to 5 PM.

RRB ALP selection process comprises CBT 1, 2, CBAT, document verification and medical exam. CBAT exam is conducted for ALP posts. Candidates need to qualify all the stages inorder to get shortlisted for the next round.

Q:   How can I fill RRB ALP application form?

To fill RRB ALP application form Visit website of RRBs, Click on RRB ALP notification, Register yourself for exam with required personal details, Fill your basic details, for example, your name, your parent’s name, contact information, mail-id etc. After clicking on the submit button, you will receive an OTP. After the OTP is validated, fill the detailed application for. Pay required application fee, Save copy of RRB ALP application form

Q:   Is CBAT mandatory for all posts in RRB ALP?
A: 

In RRB ALP & Technician exam, only those who have applied for Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) and cleared second stage of, need to appear for CBAT. CBAT is for the candidates who have applied for technician post only. Candidates equal to eight times the number of ALP vacancies are called for CBAT based on the performance in Part A of second stage CBT, subject to qualifying the Part B. Candidates are required to qualify in each of the test batteries of CBAT. The questions in CBAT are in English and Hindi only. There is no negative marking in CBAT. To draw the merit list of ALP,  70 per cent weightage is given to Part A of second stage CBT and 30 per cent in CBAT.

RRB ALP exam dates 2025 (CEN 01/2025) for CBT 1 were announced. The CBT 1 exam of RRB ALP comprises a total of 75 objective-type multiple choice questions from Mathematics, General Intelligence, and Reasoning, General Science and General awareness on current affairs. A total of 75 marks are allotted to the test. The duration of the test is 60 minutes.

Part B

The questions in this part are asked from the trade syllabus prescribed by Director General of Employment & Training (DGET). Candidates with ITI/Trade Apprenticeship qualification will be required to appear in the section having questions from the relevant trade. Candidates holding Degree, Diploma and HSC (10+2) having eligibility for the posts of ALP have to select relevant trade from the list of trades listed against their engineering discipline/HSC (10+2).
