SMVDU was established in 1999. The university was established under the Act of the J&K Legislature. This is a residential university.It is approved by UGC under Section 2(F) & Section 12(B) of UGC Act of 1956.
SMVDU has over 20 collaborations and houses one college of Nursing (SMVD College of Nursing), four faculties, consisting of 15 Schools. It offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Integrated and PhD programmes in the field of Engineering, Science, Management, Philosophy and other subjects of contemporary importance, with all technical courses recognised by AICTE, CIC and COA. Admissions to the University is granted on both entrance and merit-basis followed by SMVDU Direct Counselling respective to the course.

SMVDU BA Hons Admission Dates 2024 have not been announced by the institute yet. However, SMVDU BA Hons deadline for filling out the application forms have been elapsed for the academic year 2024. Step 1: SMVDU BA Hons Application Process 2024
Visit to the admission portal of the University and fill out the registration form. Candidates applying for the first time must follow the following steps:
- Step 1.1- Register by clicking "New Registration"
- Step 1.2- Verify the account with the OTP sent to the email and then log in
- Step 1.3- Fill out the application form by providing personal and additional details, upload a photograph and, signature
- Step 1.4- Save the application or submit and lock the profile
- Step 1.5- Select BA Hons programme and pay the SMVDU BA Hons application fee 2024 of INR 1,500
Step 2: SMVDU BA Hons Selection Criteria 2024
Candidates must then appear for CUET UG. The University, based on performance of candidates in the entrance exam publishes the merit list on SMVDU website and dispatch the provisional admission letters through individual e-mail of the selected candidates.
Step 3: SMVDU BA Hons Counselling Process 2024
Selected candidates must submit the consent letter for admission and participate in the counselling. After the document verification, the admissions committee provides admission confirmation and selected candidates must submit the SMVDU BA Hons fees 2024. The fees charged by the University for five-year integrated BA Hons programme is INR 4.21 lakh.
SMVDU admits students based on the rank obtained in JEE/JOSAA/CSAB/UCEED for engineering programs and CUET-UG/CUET-PG for undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Sciences, Management and Humanities. Admission in MBA programme will be based on CAT/MAT/CMAT/CUET score along with score obtained in GD/PI . In second phase for vacant seats in MBA programme CUET (PG) will be considered). The SMVDU 2024 cutoffs for Courses have been released for BTech, Integrated BTech, and BArch admissions. In Round 4, JoSAA cutoffs spanned from the 58592 to the 92789 values. Among these, the B.Tech. in CSE stands out as a fiercely competitive option for General category students under the AI Quota.
In a comparison of the SMVDU cutoff in 2024 with that of the preceding two years, it’s observed that SMVDU has experienced a fluctuating pattern in its closing ranks.
Candidates are advised to refer to the table below to view the branch-wise cutoff of SMVDU for 2024, compared with the cutoffs for 2023 and 2022.

First of all, candidates don't have option to avail any course via there home state quota. The SMVDU cutoff 2025 has been released for the candidates belonging to All India quota. During the SMDVU JEE Main cutoff 2025, the required rank to get into the BTech courses at institute should range between 64782 and 91814 for the General AI quota, so, candidaes applying with General AI quota can surely get admission at 30000 rank.
As per the latest information, the overall cut-off varies from 357-367 for the M.Tech courses at SMVDU.
To be spoken separately the expected cut-off for "computer and Science engeenering" is 357, 361 for "system engeenering" and 367 for "electronic and communication engeenering".
