Recently, Shiksha conducted a survey that revealed, half of the candidates appearing for the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) 20 prefer the exam to be conducted in December. The poll results highlight the varying opinions of aspiring lawyers regarding the scheduling of the examination conducted by the BCI.

Survey Breakdown: Preferred Months for AIBE 20

The poll data indicate a clear preference among candidates for the timing of AIBE 20:

  • 50% of candidates want the exam to be conducted in December.
  • 33% want the exam to be held in July.
  • 10 per cent of aspirants favour the exam being conducted in October.
  • Remaining students have no preference; they are flexible with any date.

Why is December the Most Preferred Month?

Legal aspirants who participated in the poll mentioned multiple reasons for their preference for a December exam:

  • Many candidates believe that scheduling AIBE 20 in December allows them more time for thorough preparation, especially for those who graduate mid-year.
  • Students will get enough time to prepare for other competitive law exams and university assessments, reducing scheduling conflicts.
  • Travelling to the exam centre is comfortable in winter.

Diverse Opinions Among Candidates

December is the most favoured month, while a major portion of candidates desire an earlier exam in July. This group primarily includes fresh graduates who want to clear the AIBE at the earliest and begin their legal practice without delays. Similarly, the 10 per cent who chose October may be looking for a middle ground between early and late scheduling, while the 7% without any strong preference indicate flexibility with the BCI’s decision.

The AIBE 20 exam result has been released by the Bar Council of India. The result was announced based on the final answer key.

Q:   How to obtain the CoP after clearing AIBE exam?
A:

Candidates who will successfully pass the AIBE exam will be issued the CoP by BCI. The qualified candidates will have to collect their Certificate of Practice from their respective State Bar Councils. It is a mandatory document to practice Law in India.

Q:   How to access the AIBE 20 result?
A:

The AIBE 20 result has been released online on the AIBE website. The candidates can access their results using the AIBE Login credentials created during the registration. 

Bar Council of India has released AIBE 20 notification. The registraton date is September 29 to October 31, 2025. AIBE XX is scheduled on November 20. All the notification for AIBE is mentioned online. Students must be updated with the events to avoid missing them.

All India Bar Examination (AIBE) is an entrace exam for lawyers who wish to practice in the courtroom. Students who qualify this exam are issued a Certificate of Practice. The Bar Council of India conducts the AIBE. This exam is held once a year. A law graduate from a recognized university or college can apply. AIBE is a computer based test. The BCI conducts the AIBE Exam in 11 languages. One of the language is hindi too. Hence, candidates have an option to appear for the exam in hindi too.
