Commonly asked questions
Q:   Can I get admission to a college in North India through SLAT?
A:

Candidates who want to appear in SLAT need to know that there is only one Symbiosis Law School in North India. This Symbiosis Law School is SLS Noida. Thus, SLS Noida is one of the options for candidates who want to take the SLAT and get admission to a law college in the South. No other college in the northern states of India accepts the score of the SLAT exam. Two SLSs, namely, SLS Pune and SLS Nagpur, can help candidates get admission to these two colleges in western India. However, SLS Hyderabad is the option for candidates who want to take the SLAT and get admission to a law college in South India.

Q:   Is it possible for me to get admission to a top law college based on my SLAT scores?
A:

Yes, candidates can get admission to four law colleges or schools at Symbiosis International University based on their SLAT scores. These law schools are Symbiosis Law School Pune, Symbiosis Law School Noida, Symbiosis Law School Nagpur, and Symbiosis Law School Hyderabad. These four Symbiosis Law Schools are among the top law colleges in India. Other colleges do not accept SLAT scores. If a candidate wants to take a law entrance exam based on which he or she can apply to multiple law colleges, he or she can take the CLAT or LSAT-India. The scores of the two law entrance exams are accepted by many law colleges for admission.

Commonly asked questions
Q:   What are my career opportunities if I attend a reputed law college after passing the SLAT exam?
A:

Candidates who clear the SLAT exam need to note that passing this exam is not a guarantee of a successful career in law, even if you attend a highly reputed law college. They must work hard to develop the real-life skills that are required to succeed as lawyers during their years of education at a law college. They need to learn all the law-related lessons taught to them at the college and implement them practically by participating in moot court activities and internships to gain the legal knowledge applicable to real life scenarios. Moreover, the career opportunities in law also depend on the law in which you specialise. The job opportunities in the field of law will be related to your specialisation in law.

Q:   Which factors should I consider when selecting Symbiosis Law School through SLAT?
A:

While selecting a Symbiosis Law School for admission through SLAT, candidates must consider some specific factors related to their educational and personal needs. The primary factors that they need to consider for admission are the quality of education and the fee of the institution that they prefer. If the quality of education at the institution preferred by them is high and its fee is within their budget, they must choose it for admission. Other factors that they consider while selecting an SLS are the location of the SLS and the law course offered by it.

Q:   Which is the best college which I can get admission in through SLAT?
A:

The best college for candidates to get admission to law courses through the SLAT exam depends on multiple factors. The first is the quality of education offered by the institution. Other criteria that can help in finding the best college accepting SLAT scores depend on the amenities offered by the institution for the overall legal aptitude and personality development of candidates. These criteria include an excellent moot court facility, research assistance, and co-curricular activities that foster the personality development of candidates. Thus, while selecting the best college that accepts SLAT scores, candidates must consider the mentioned criteria. These colleges include, SLS Pune, SLS Noida, SLS Nagpur, SLS Hyderabad. Candidates can also opt for other law colleges that accept SLAT results according to their personal educational goals and aspirations.

Commonly asked questions
Q:   What happens when you choose all Symbiosis Law Colleges in the SLAT?
A:

The selection of a Symbiosis Law College is made at the time of filling out the SLAT application form. Candidates can select all or any of the SLS while filling out the SLAT application or registration form. To select an SLS, they are required to pay the SLAT application fee and the institute (SLS) fee. These fees are subject to change each year. If a candidate selects all the Symbiosis Law Schools (SLSs), he or she will have to pay institute fees for all of them along with the SLAT registration or application fee, then appear in the SLAT. After appearing in the SLAT, he or she will have to take the SLAT Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interaction (PI) for all SLSs.

Q:   How much should I score in SLAT to get a good SLS as a general category candidate?
A:

All Symbiosis Law Schools are equally good in terms of the quality of law education. Thus, after getting a good score in the SLAT candidates can get admission to any of the four Law Schools of Symbiosis International (Deemed University). Getting admission to an SLS depends on the cutoff marks decided by it. Thus, if a candidate wants to get admission to a Symbiosis Law School, he or she needs a SLAT score equal to or more than its cutoff. Generally, 65% marks in the SLAT are a good score to get admission to an SLS.

Q:   What is the procedure for getting admission to Symbiosis Law College after taking the SLAT exam?
A:

The procedure to get admission to all Symbiosis Law Schools, including SLS Pune, SLS Noida, SLS Nagpur, and SLS Hyderabad, is the same. For admission to one of these SLSs, candidates need to follow the steps mentioned below:

  • Appear in the SLAT entrance exam.
  • Apply for the SLAT Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interaction (PI).
  • Appear in WAT and PI.
  • If you get selected on the SLAT merit list of the SLS to which you applied for admission, verify your documents and pay the admission fee to the institution.
  • Confirm your seats by receiving a seat allotment letter from the institution.
