SLAT Question Paper Pattern 2027

The  SLAT question paper 2027 will be based on a standard pattern. Not much has changed in the SLAT paper pattern. Candidates are advised to carefully read the highlights of the SLAT QP pattern and prepare for the exam accordingly.

  1. SLAT question paper will comprise five sections, namely: Logical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, and General Knowledge.
  2. SLAT question paper will carry 60 questions
  3. There will be 12 questions in each section of 1 mark
  4. SLAT question paper will have all MCQ/objective-type questions
  5. SLAT question paper will be provided in online mode, as it is a computer-based test

Q:   How can I download the question papers from previous years for the SLAT exam?
A: 

The question papers of the SLAT exam conducted in previous years cannot be downloaded because the SET exam authority does not release SLAT question papers. However, there are other resources that SLAT aspirants can use to get insights about SLAT question papers from previous years. These resources are practise sets and mock tests available in the books dedicated to SLAT preparation. Some of these books also contain the SLAT question papers from previous years. Q:   Can I get the question paper PDF of SLAT for free?

Candidates cannot get SLAT question papers of previous years for free because the conduction body of SLAT, the Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) authority, does not release previous years’ question papers of the exam. The questions relevant to SLAT question papers can be found in books designed for the SLAT syllabus. Candidates need to focus more on topics related to the SLAT syllabus to prepare for this law entrance exam. The syllabus includes topics associated with Logical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, General English, and General Knowledge.

Q:   Are the questions of previous years repeated in the SLAT question paper?

There are chances of repetition of questions from the past 2-3 years in the latest question paper of SLAT. However, there is no guarantee that the exam conducting authority will do so. Questions from SLAT question papers that are 5-6 years old will not be repeated in the exam because SLAT question papers are based on topics relevant to contemporary and useful areas of education. Here, SLAT aspirants need to note that questions from previous years of SLAT.

 

Q:   Which is the most important section in the SLAT question paper?
A: 

All sections of the SLAT exam, Logical Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, General Knowledge, and General English are equally important because they all carry 12 questions and equal weightage. Thus, solving all sections of the SLAT question paper correctly will provide candidates with equal benefits. Moreover, they can attempt all the questions available in the exam question paper because there is no provision for negative marking in the SLAT exam. Here, candidates need to note that the total mark for the SLAT entrance test is 60, which is scaled down to 50. A total of 50 marks are added from the SLAT Writing Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interaction (PI) to evaluate the SLAT results.

 

Q:   Will questions be available in Marathi in the SLAT question paper?
A: 

The questions in the question paper of the SLAT will not be available in Marathi because the Symbiosis Entrance Test Authority has designed the SLAT question papers to provide admission opportunities to BA LLB and BBA LLB courses for candidates all over India. Regional languages like Marathi are usually used for question papers in common entrance exams conducted by states. The law entrance exam in which questions are asked in English and Marathi is MH CET Law, which is conducted by the Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell Maharashtra.

Q:   Can I skip a question in the SLAT question paper if I do not know its answer?
A: 

Yes, candidates can skip a question in the SLAT question paper if they do not know its answer. However, it is recommended that candidates answer all the questions available in the exam question paper because SLAT does not follow a negative marking scheme. Thus, if they answer a question incorrectly, no marks will be penalised. In case when candidates do not answer to a particular question, they should not waste their time solving or answering it because the time limit to solve a SLAT question paper is very short, which is equal to 60 minutes (1 hour). They can mark such questions for review and answer them later.

 

Q:   Which types of questions are asked in the SLAT question paper?
A: 

Multiple-choice questions are asked in the SLAT question papers. Candidates are required to answer these questions in a computer-based test mode (online). 

Q:   Can I crack SLAT by solving question papers of the previous years of the exam?
A: 

Yes, candidates can crack SLAT by solving previous years’ question papers of the exam because these question papers can help them get familiarised with the SLAT exam pattern and types of questions asked in the exam. But SLAT aspirants need to know that solving previous years’ question papers is not enough to score well in the exam. They need to learn the basic concepts about the topics on which questions are asked in SLAT. Doing so will allow them to solve any questions asked in the SLAT question paper, even if these questions were not asked in previous years’ question papers.

 

Q:   What is the structure of the SLAT question paper?
A: 

The SLAT question paper contains 12 questions persection and each question carries one mark. Thus, the total number of questions in the SLAT question paper is 60. 

Q:   Will my marks get deducted if I answer a question incorrectly in the SLAT exam?
A: 

No, your marks will not be deducted if you answer a question incorrectly in the SLAT exam because SLAT does not have a negative marking scheme. Candidates also do not lose marks for questions they do not answer. For each correct answer, they receive one mark. The overall scores are evaluated on the basis of the correct options out of a total of 60 marks. However, the total 60 marks of the SLAT exam are scaled down to 50.

 

Q:   Can I get admission to SLS Pune without SLAT scores?
A: 
No, candidates cannot get admission to SLS Pune and the other three SLSs, namely, SLS Noida, SLS Hyderabad, and SLS Nagpur, without appearing in the SLAT exam. The four law schools of Symbiosis International University do not accept any other law entrance exams for admission to BA LLB, BA LLB (Hons. ), BBA LLB, and BBA LLB (Hons. ). Thus, to get admission to undergraduate law courses offered by SLSs, candidates will have to appear in the SLAT exam, which is followed by Written Ability Test (What) and Personal Interview (PI). Admissions to SLSs are based on the collective scores of SLAT, What, and PI. Candidates need to know that there will not be provision for the rechecking of the results of SLAT 2023. The option of raising objections against SLAT answer keys is not available because the SET exam authority does not release answer keys for the exam.
Q:   Is there still a WAT round in SLAT Exam?
A: 

The Symbiosis Internation Law University has discontinued Writing Ability Test from the SLAT Admission Process. For the current SLAT 2026 admissions cycle, and since the 2025 cycle, the selection process is based solely on a candidate's performance in the main SLAT entrance exam and a subsequent Personal Interview (PI) round.

Symbiosis International University offers BA LLB (Hons. ), BBA LLB (Hons. ), BA LLB, and BBA LLB at its four law schools, which are Symbiosis Law School Pune, Symbiosis Law School Nagpur, Symbiosis Law School Noida, and Symbiosis Law School Hyderabad. Symbiosis Law School Pune offers BA LLB (Hons. ) and BBA LLB (Hons. ) through SLAT. Symbiosis Law School, Noida, offers BA LLB and BBA LLB. The law courses offered by Symbiosis Law School Hyderabad and Symbiosis Law School Nagpur are BA LLB and BBA LLB. Candidates who secure marks equal to or higher than the SLAT cutoff in a particular year can apply to study these mentioned law courses in the same year.
Q:   How can I prepare for SLAT from Class 11?
A: 

Candidates can prepare for SLAT from Class 11 by practising topics from which questions are asked in the exam. The topics of subjects from which questions are asked in SLAT are Logical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension (English), and General Knowledge. Under the General Knowledge subject, SLAT aspirants also need to study static GK related to History, Geography, Indian and International Politics, and United Nations Organisation (UNO) and its bodies, and current affairs. To study the mentioned subjects for SLAT preparation from Class 11, candidates can purchase books containing sample papers, practice tests, and mock tests based on the SLAT syllabus and pattern. They can devote 1-2 hours every day to SALT preparation. Preparing for the SLAT from Class 12 can provide aspirants with a competitive edge because they will have more than a year to prepare for the entrance exam effectively.
