To prepare for SLAT Exam you need not only dedication but also the correct SLAT Preparation plan. Candidates should prepare a section-wise study plan that includes solving sample papers and developing a strategy for each section. Without top-tier preparation, candidates will struggle to attain a rank high enough to gain entry to the Symbiosis Law Schools. The SLAT Exam is held for admission to four SLS; i.e. Noida, Pune, Hyderabad and Nagpur. The SLAT 2027 exam dates will be announced along with the official SLAT Notification.

Refer to the pointers below for effective SLAT exam preparation,

  • Focus on sections that has more weightage. Practice these sections well to score high in them and increase your overall score.
  • Solve past years' questions because questions can be repeated in the current year's test.
  • Create a weekly study plan.

The important topics for the different sections of the SLAT exam are different. The important topics are Reading Comprehension, Synonyms, Antonyms, Foreign Words/Phrase, International events, UN bodies, Major developments in the areas of sports, geopolitics, and important environmental agreements, Current affairs, Eminent personalities, Sports, and Awards and honours. The important topics related to the SLAT Legal Reasoning section are Legal terms, Indian Constitution and its structure, sections and schedules, Contracts and Constitutional Law, Torts, Vicarious Liability, Contracts and Constitutional Law, IPC and the CrPC, Strict Liability, Law of Crimes, International Law, Intellectual Property Rights, Legal Awareness covering Constitutional Law and Politics.

 

Q:   Can I get the question paper PDF of SLAT for free?
A: 

Candidates cannot get SLAT question papers of previous years for free because the conduction body of SLAT, the Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) authority, does not release previous years’ question papers of the exam. The questions relevant to SLAT question papers can be found in books designed for the SLAT syllabus. Candidates need to focus more on topics related to the SLAT syllabus to prepare for this law entrance exam. The syllabus includes topics associated with Logical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, General English, and General Knowledge.

Practice mock tests and revise everything

Candidates should practise the questions based on the subjects of SLAT 2027 as much as possible to score well in the exam. The best way to practice SLAT Mock test is to clarify concepts first and then take the mock tests. Candidates should prepare for each subject separately. However, in the last 15 days remaining for the examination, candidates should practice at least two mock tests a day along with a revision of the syllabus.

Check previous years exam analysis 

Candidates can check the previous years' analysis for SLAT exam to understand the type of questions asked, level of difficulty and other details about the question paper. Q:   When should I start preparing for SLAT?
A: 

There is no maximum time limit to start preparation. Candidates can start preparing for the SLAT exam any time when they decide to sit for it. You can refer to previous year papers for the exam overview.

Q:   Is one month sufficient for solving SLAT practise sets?
A: 

The number of SLAT practise sets depends on the number of practise sets an aspirant solves. If you want to solve fewer practise sets, then one month is enough to practise them. However, if you want to solve 30–40 practise sets of SLAT, then you need 2-3 months to do so. This much time will allow you to solve one practise set multiple times. As a result, you will learn about almost all the important concepts and topics from which questions are asked in the SLAT exam. Aspirants preparing for the SLAT also need to know the SLAT syllabus and practise topics related to it to score well in the entrance exam.

Q:   Which is the most important section in the SLAT question paper?
A: 

All sections of the SLAT exam, Logical Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, General Knowledge, and General English are equally important because they all carry 12 questions and equal weightage. Thus, solving all sections of the SLAT question paper correctly will provide candidates with equal benefits. Moreover, they can attempt all the questions available in the exam question paper because there is no provision for negative marking in the SLAT exam. Here, candidates need to note that the total mark for the SLAT entrance test is 60, which is scaled down to 50. A total of 50 marks are added from the SLAT Writing Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interaction (PI) to evaluate the SLAT results.

 

Q:   Do I need to cover the entire syllabus for SLAT preparation?
A: 

The Symbiosis Law Admission Test authority does not provide subtle details about the SLAT syllabus. Thus, the syllabus for SLAT cannot be specified accurately. The exam authority only shares the details associated with the sections related to the SLAT question paper, which are Analytical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, General English, and General Knowledge. Thus, candidates only study to prepare for relevant sections along with mathematics (of level up to Class 10) and current affairs to prepare for SLAT.

Normally the cutoff for SLS Pune is 48+ score for SLAT exam. Students appearing for SLAT 2026 and aiming to get an admission in SLS Pune should try to get a score of over 48. Students also have to go through a Personal Interview round and WAT, to get admission in SLS Pune.
