Commonly asked questions
Q:   What are the reservation criteria for SLAT?
A:

SLAT exam authority uses University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines for SLAT reservation policy. As per the exam authority, the total percentage of reserved seats for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates is 15. The total percentage of seats reserved for Scheduled Tries candidates in SLAT is 7.5%. The exam authority has reserved 5% of seats for wards of Defence Personnel at Symbiosis Law School Pune. The reservation facility for wards of Defence personnel is not available at the other three Symbiosis Law Schools. Moreover, 3% of total seats are reserved for Different Able candidates in all SLSs through SLAT.

Q:   Which institutes accept SLAT score?
A:

A total of four law institutes fall under the SIU umbrella:

1. Symbiosis Law School, Pune

2. Symbiosis Law School, Noida

3. Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad

4. Symbiosis Law School, Nagpur

The curriculum at all four institutes is designed to reflect the latest developments in the legal field in India and around the world. The programmes are delivered by highly qualified and enthusiastic faculty who are determined to help students succeed in the field of law. The institute also has a techno-driven research culture, internationalisation, centres of excellence, training and skill enhancement programmes, and moot courts, among others.

Q:   How much should I score in SLAT to get a good SLS as a general category candidate?
A:

All Symbiosis Law Schools are equally good in terms of the quality of law education. Thus, after getting a good score in the SLAT candidates can get admission to any of the four Law Schools of Symbiosis International (Deemed University). Getting admission to an SLS depends on the cutoff marks decided by it. Thus, if a candidate wants to get admission to a Symbiosis Law School, he or she needs a SLAT score equal to or more than its cutoff. Generally, 65% marks in the SLAT are a good score to get admission to an SLS.

The SLAT cut-off is made up of scores secured by candidates in the SLAT exam, PI and What. A merit list includes the name, roll number, registration number, collective marks secured by them in SLAT What, and PI their merit rank, and category. Based on the selection of candidates in the SLAT merit lists for a particular 5-year LL.B. Programme, seats are offered to each candidate. They need to book their respective seats by paying the admission before the due date ascertained by the SLS from whose merit list they get selected.

Commonly asked questions
Q:   What to do if I forgot my SLAT login details?
A:

In such cases, you have to visit set-test.org and click on the Forgot Password option. Provide your email address and get a confirmation email to reset your password.

Q:   What are the main subjects regarding which questions are asked in SLAT?
A:

The main subjects from which questions are asked in the SLAT exam are Logical Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning Mathematics, General Knowledge, and Current Affairs. The main mathematics topics for SLAT exam are the topics related to the Class 10 Math syllabus. Under the General Knowledge subject, static GK questions related to History, Geography, Indian and International Politics are asked. However, in the Current Affairs subject related to the exam, questions related to recent national and international events are asked. It should be noted that subjects related to the SLAT exam do not refer to the sections in the SLAT question paper. To get more details about the SLAT question paper, click on this link - https://www.shiksha.com/law/slat-exam.

Q:   What is a good score on SLAT exam?
A:

Getting 45 or more marks in SLAT is mostly seen as a good score. It gives you a better chance of getting into a top Symbiosis Law School. If you're aiming for SLS Pune, the most competitive one, try to score around 48–52 marks. A score above 40 is still decent and can keep you in the race. The cutoffs change from one campus to another. SLS Noida usually needs around 42–47 marks, SLS Hyderabad about 38–44, and SLS Nagpur close to 36–41 marks.

Q:   Which documents do I need to carry to the exam centre along with my SLAT admit card?
A:
Candidates need to carry a valid photo ID proof to the exam centre along with a coloured printout of their SLAT admit card. This photo ID proof can be an Aadhaar Card, voter ID, PAN Card, driving licence, or passport. The reason for which the exam supervising authority asks candidates to carry their photo ID proof is that they want to ensure their identity. Aadhaar Card and Voter ID are the best photo ID proofs that can help Indian citizens verify their identity. Thus, it is advised to all SLAT exam takers that they must carry one of the two photo ID proofs to the SLAT exam centre. The photo ID proof should be original because photocopies or printouts of ID proofs are not accepted by the exam authority. The ID proof will only be used to recognise the candidates. It will not be submitted by the authority.

A:

Candidates can get admission in four SLS located in Noida, Nagpur, Hyderabad and Pune.

Q:   How many questions are asked in SLAT 2026 exam?
A:

The SLAT exam have a total of 60 questions divided into five sections. Candidates must practice previous year papers to understand the kind of questions asked in exam.

Q:   Does SLAT happen twice a year?
A:

SLAT does not occur twice a year, but it takes place on two consecutive dates within the same session. Candidates have the option to appear in either or both. The best attempt from the two will be considered to prepare the merit list. SLAT 2026 exam was held on:

Test 1TBA
Test 2TBA
Q:   Is SLAT easier than CLAT?
A:

Both the exams, SLAT & CLAT are based on the 10+2 level syllabus and candidates may find both the exams' difficulty on the same level. The syllabus for both the exam also stands on a similar page and the exams consist of questions from Logical and legal reasoning, analytical reasoning, reading comprehension, & General Knowledge. Candidates can appear for both the exams to increase their possibility of admission to the top colleges in India.

Q:   Are the question papers for both SLAT Test 1 and SLAT Test 2 different?
A:

Yes, the question paper of the SLAT exam on each day will be different. However, the pattern of the exam will be the same for each test.

Q:   What are the important topics from which questions are in the SLAT exam?
A:

The important topics for the SLAT are different for the different sections. For the SLAT Analytical Reasoning section questons from situations, or objects and finding solutions will be asked. In Logical Reasoning section, concepts based on statements and assumptions or syllogisms will be asked. In the General Knowledge section of the entrance exam, questions are asked from static GK topics and current affairs.

Q:   How many questions do I need to attempt to become a topper of the SLAT exam?
A:

To become a topper of the SLAT exam, a candidate needs to attempt all the questions asked. There is no negative marking in SLAT. Thus, attempt all the questions.

Q:   What is the syllabus for the SLAT entrance exam?
A:

The Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) Authority, the conducting body of the SLAT exam, does not provide a detailed syllabus for it. However, it provides the details of the sections from which questions are asked in the entrance exam. These sections are Analytical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, General English and General Knowledge. From each sections 12 questions are asked in the exam. Each question carries one mark and does not have any penalties for a wrong answer. Thus, the total marks for the SLAT exam are 60, which are scaled down to 50.

Q:   From where can I download the SLAT syllabus?
A:

The SLAT syllabus is not available for download because the SET exam authority does not provide any details other than the exam sections related to the SLAT syllabus. Aspirants who want to appear in SLAT can refer to the syllabus of other law entrance exams similar to SLAT to get an idea of the topics associated with the SLAT syllabus. They can check the CLAT syllabus because the CLAT exam pattern is similar to the SLAT exam pattern. CLAT is tougher than SLAT. Thus, if SLAT applicants prepare according to the CLAT syllabus, they will be able to crack the SLAT exam.

Q:   Which section is considered Difficult in the SLAT exam?
A:

The Symbiosis International University mentions the names of Broad topics in the SLAT syllabus. The candidates consider the General Knowledge section as the most difficult. Prepare for this section accordingly and use the best books available to get a good percentile in this section of SLAT exam.

Q:   How many hours do I need to study to crack SLAT?
A:

SLAT preparation is easy. Create a proper schedule to prepare for the exam on a daily basis. Allot more time to practicing and studying law topics. It takes 6 to 8 hours of revision if you make a section-wise plan. This entrance is comparatively easy to other top law entrances.
