  • Subjects Required: Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Botany & Zoology, and English (including practicals).

    • General: Minimum aggregate as specified by the college in PCB subjects.

    • PwD (General category): Minimum 45% in PCB.

  • Individual Pass: Must have passed each subject (PCB and English) individually.

  • Qualification: Passed/appeared in 10+2 or equivalent with English, Physics, Chemistry, and either Biology or Mathematics.

  • Minimum Marks:

Q. What is BSc Perfusion Technology?

A. BSc Perfusion Technology is a 3 year UG degree and all about teaching students to use advanced medical tools which are used in cardiac surgeries and critical care. BSc Perfusion Technology includes managing life support machines like heart lung machines during procedures such as open heart surgery ensuring the patient’s circulatory and respiratory functions are maintained. 

BSc Perfusion Technology covers a range of subjects including anatomy, physiology, cardiovascular technology and even clinical perfusion techniques. 

Q. Does BSc Perfusion Technology need NEET?

A. No, NEET is not typically required for admission to BSc Perfusion Technology. Admission to BSc Perfusion Technology is usually based on merit from Class 12, particularly in subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. 

NEET is mandatory for medical programs like MBBS and BDS, but not for Paramedical or allied health Science courses like Perfusion Technology.

A. BSc Perfusion Technology can be a little challenging because of the specialised nature. The curriculum of BSc Perfusion Technology includes understanding difficult medical tools, cardiovascular physiology and also critical patient care techniques. Students must understand details about the operation of heart lung machines, hemodynamics and also surgical procedures which requires a strong foundation in Science and a high level of technical skill.

But BSc Perfusion Technology focuses on operating heart lung machines and other equipment during cardiac procedures. BSc Perfusion Technology offers a niche but very important role in the healthcare system with high job satisfaction for those who are interested in cardiac care as well as technical roles.

 

Q. Which course is better - BSc Cardiac Care or BSc Perfusion Technology?

A. BSc Cardiology is a 3-year undergraduate degree in the allied specialisation in Medicine. It is also offered as BSc Cardiac Technology and prepares students to operate cardiovascular technologies and equipment to assist doctors during cardiovascular testing. Furthermore, you will carry out tasks that do not require extensive medical training but can help a doctor in numerous ways.

Whereas, Perfusion Technology is a branch of Science which deals with the study of physiology, pathology and associated equipment used to support and/or assume the function of the heart and/or lungs during medical procedures. It is a three-year course having six semesters. The students of perfusion technology must have a thorough understanding of both respiratory and circulatory systems, and be able to operate complex equipment.

Cardiovascular Technologist typically earns around INR 46,600 INR per month. The highest salary in this field is INR 72600 INR and the lowest Salary is INR 22800. In BSc Cardiac perfusion technology the average salary is  INR 4.8 LPA. The take-home salary varies from  INR  36,000 - INR 38,000.

A. Candidates should have passed their Class 12 (PCB) with passing marks to be eligible. But candidates should know that eligibility can be different according to the courses. This is why they should check it.

A. Cardiovascular perfusion is the science of providing extracorporeal circulation to artificially support and temporarily replace a patient's respiratory and circulatory systems. Clinical Perfusionists are expert members of the cardiac surgical team and also provide life support for patients requiring extracorporeal circulation which includes major cardiothoracic, vascular and also transplant surgeries as well as the support of the critically ill patient.
