The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) has announced a mandatory physical assessment for candidates under the Persons with Disability (PwD) category who have secured a Common Merit Rank (CMR) in NIFT 2025. As per admission guidelines, these candidates must appear before an Evaluation Committee at designated NIFT campuses on June 27, 2025, at 10:30 AM.

The purpose of this assessment is to evaluate the physical and psychological readiness of each candidate for the academic programmes they have applied to. Only those found suitable by the committee will be considered for seat allotment.

Documents to Carry (Original + Self-Attested Copies) for Physical Assessment

Candidates should carry the following documents:

  1. UDID Card (Mandatory)

  2. Date of Birth Certificate / Class 10 Certificate

  3. Class 12 Certificate and Marksheet

  4. Medical Assessment Reports / Prescriptions

  5. Category Certificate (if applicable)

  6. NIFT 2025 Scorecard with valid CMR

  7. One Passport Size Photograph

NIFT also reserves the right to disqualify any candidate if they are found unfit for the programme requirements after the assessment. Candidates are advised to report on time and carry all required documents to ensure smooth processing. For campus-specific details, refer to Annexure I in the official notice.

Q: Β  What will be the basis of NIFT 2025 seat allotment?
A:

The allotment of seats will be based on: 

  1. Choice opted at the time of counseling registration (academic programs + campuses)
  2. The category of the candidate
  3. Seat intake in the college opted for admission
  4. NIFT 2025 merit rank of the candidate. 

NIFT 2025 seat allotment process will be conducted in four regular and one spot rounds.

The 1st round of seat allotment will be declared around the 3rd week of June 2025. .

The counseling registration will be conducted in May 2025. 

Q: Β  When will the NIFT 2025 entrance exam be conducted?
A:

The written tests for the NIFT 2025 exam will be held on February 9, 2025. The detailed schedule has also been released.

The written tests will comprise a General Ability Test (GAT) and a Creative Ability Test (CAT). GAT is mandatory for all candidates, but CAT is only required for B. Des and M. Des candidates. 

The GAT test will be considered in a computer-based mode, whereas the CAT will be offline based. Note that scores of the written exams will be used to shortlist candidates for a Situation Test/ Personal Interview.

Q: Β  When do I need to start my preparation for NIFT 2025 exam?
A:

The NIFT exam is among the competitive and is also considered among the toughest. So, it is recommended that the candidate starts their exam preparation early. NIFT exam has various components like written exam and Situation Test /Personal Interview. Candidates seeking admission to the B. Des and M.Des courses need to prepare for both the CAT and GAT. The CAT is a drawing-based exam. Now unless the candidate is already well-versed, the exam will be very difficult. So, start early. The same goes for the GAT.
