The newly launched courses by IIIT Allahabad aim to provide greater flexibility for students and working professionals by allowing them to study from the comfort of their homes without the need to be physically present on campus, except for certain experimental work to be completed during summer vacations.
IIIT Allahabad Courses 2025: The Institute of Information Technology (IIIT)-Allahabad is set to introduce two new online courses: MTech in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science, and an MBA program. These courses aim to provide greater flexibility for students and working professionals by allowing them to study from the comfort of their homes without the need to be physically present on campus, except for certain experimental work to be completed during summer vacations.
Institute PRO, Pankaj Mishra, shared that both programs have received approval from the Senate and are awaiting further approval from the Board of Governors (BOG). “After BOG's approval, the courses may be launched from the 2025-26 academic session,” said Mishra.
Comprehensive Curriculum in AI and Data Science
The MTech in AI and Data Science will cover a comprehensive range of subjects, including machine learning, deep learning, and data analytics. The course will focus on both the fundamentals and advanced techniques of AI and data science, ensuring students gain a deep understanding of the subject matter. Students will also be exposed to practical applications, using AI and data science to solve real-world problems, preparing them for various industry challenges.
To further enhance learning, the institute plans to collaborate with edutech companies for admissions to the new courses. This partnership is expected to provide students with additional career advancement opportunities and ensure their skills are aligned with the latest industry trends.
Online MBA: A Flexible Pathway for Career Growth
Along with the MTech in AI and Data Science, the MBA program will offer students a blend of management, technology, and business education. Reinstating Dual Degree Program to Benefit Future Graduates
In addition to the new online offerings, IIIT-Allahabad has decided to revive its dual degree program for undergraduate students starting in the 2025-26 session. The program will offer BTech-MTech and BTech-MBA dual degrees, allowing students to complete both degrees in just five years under a single admission.
This program will be updated in line with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020), providing students with more flexible entry and exit options. The dual degree program will help students advance their knowledge and skills more quickly while also providing enhanced opportunities for research and development in their chosen fields.

Candidates taking admission to an MTech programme shall have a valid BE/BTech degree in a relevant discipline with at least 60% aggregate (55% for SC/ST) from a recognised university. The candidates wanting to pursue M.Tech from IIITA need to take the GATE exam. Candidates with a valid GATE score are called for the CCMT Counselling rounds based on cutoff marks. Further, based on performance in the counselling round, seat allotment is carried out.
