FRI Entrance Test application form is expected to be published in February 2026. Students can download the FRI application will March 2026, tentatively. Students should ensure that they meet the minimum eligibility requirements. 

The FRI admit card 2026 is likely to be released in the last week of April, and it will be sent directly to the candidate's mail ID. 

The FRI entrance exam 2026 will be held in the first week of May in online mode. will be made live on a predetermined date/time and will be taken only using the Google Chrome Browser on your Windows PC / Laptop with a working webcam. 

FRI Entrance Exam 2026 Results are expected to be declared in  June. Candidates can download their scorecards by logging in with their User ID and password.

Qualified candidates will have to participate in the FRI Entrance Exam counselling process 2026, which is likely to begin on July (first round). There will be two round of counselling for the post-graduate courses. The second round of counselling will start in mid July 2026, tentatively.

What is FRI Entrance Exam?

Forest Research Institute (Deemed) University conducts FRI Entrance Exam in order to shortlist aspirants for master’s programmes offered by the institute. On the basis of a candidate’s score in FRI Entrance Exam, he/she is shortlisted for admission in courses such as – MSc Forestry, MSc Wood Science & Technology, MSc Environment Management and MSc Cellulose & Paper Technology. After reorganization of Forestry Research in the country and creation of Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) in 1988, the training and research centres were given an independent status of institutes. Forest Research Institute, now one of the institutes under ICFRE, was conferred the status of Deemed University in December 1991 on the recommendations of the U.G.C., Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

Candidates need to meet FRI Entrance Exam 2023 eligibility criteria as is fixed by the Academic Council of Forest Research Institute.

MSc Forestry

Candidates meet the eligibility criteria for MSc Forestry course offered at Forest Research Institute if they possess Bachelor’s degree in Science with at least one of the subject from Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics and Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or Forestry.

MSc Wood Science & Technology

Candidates meet the eligibility criteria for MSc Wood Science & Technology course offered at Forest Research Institute if they possess Bachelor’s degree with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry or BSc degree in Forestry.

MSc Environment Management

Candidates meet the eligibility criteria for MSc Environment Management course offered at Forest Research Institute if they possess three years Bachelor’s degree in any branch of basic or applied Sciences or Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or Agriculture or BE in Environment Science.

MSc Cellulose & Paper Technology

Minimum Qualifying Marks

Candidates meet Forest Research Institute entrance exam eligibility criteria if they possess at least 50% aggregate marks at the BSc level/MSc if they belong to General category and 45% if they belong to SC/ST category.

Age Limit for In-Service Candidates

The maximum age limit in respect of in-service candidate to MSc Environment Management course shall be 50 years. The age shall be reckoned as on July 31 of the year of admission and no further relaxation will be given in any case.

FRI Entrance Exam Admission Process

Candidates can go through the admission process for FRI Entrance Exam 2023 below:

Step 1: Fill FRI Entrance Exam Application Form

The FRI application form can be downloaded from the University website www.fridu.edu.in. The candidates have to submit duly filled Application form along with fee of INR1500/- in the form of
Demand Draft from any Nationalized Bank in the favour of Registrar, FRI Deemed to be University, Dehradun. The last date of receipt of completed application form is April 17, 2023.
(Forms received after the last date will not be accepted in any ciruumstances). It is advised to send the application form by Registered Post, Speed Post/Courier. Postal delay will not be accepted as a plea to entertain applications after the last date.

Step 2: Get FRI Entrance Exam Admit Card

FRI entrance exam 2023 admit card is sent to candidates on their registered email address. The hall ticket for Forest Research Institute comprises of the candidate’s roll number as well as test centre details like address and code.

Step 3: Appear for FRI Entrance Test

For the 2023-24 academic year, the FRI Entrance Exam will be conducted in online mode, which will be a Remote Proctored Entrance Examination. Students will have to appear for the entrance exam from their homes and give the exams from their laptop or desktop. The varsity will not be held responsible if the candidate is unable to appear or sit for the entrance exam. Generally as done in the past, candidates need to appear for the written exam for Forest Research Institute admissions as per the date, time and test centre address mentioned on their admit card. FRI Entrance Exam is of three hours duration wherein candidates need to attempt multiple-choice questions.
