FRI Entrance Exam 2025 offline registration process started on February 10, 2025. The application form was released online on the official website. The deadline to fill the application form for candidates who wish to take admission in the MSc degree programme offered by Forest Research Institute was March 10, 2025. Candidates were required to download the FRI Entrance Exam application form 2025 and fill it out the application form offline.

The FRI Entrance Exam Forms 2025 received after the last date would not be accepted under any circumstances. It is also advised to send the application form by Registered Post, Speed Post/Courier. Postal delay will not be accepted as a plea to entertain applications after the last date.

The FRI Entrance Exam 2025 was conducted on May 4, 2025, for four MSc courses available at Forest Research Institution, Dehradun. Candidates are advised to check out the FRI Entrance Exam 2025 eligibility criteria meticulously before filling out the application form in order not to lose their candidature at any stage of the admission process. Q:   What is the eligibility criteria for FRI Entrance Test?
A: 

Eligibility for the written test is:

a. Candidate to be called for the written test shall have a minimum qualification prescribed for the purpose for the various courses.

b. There will be a written test for admission to M.Sc. Courses and Post Master Diploma Course on the following subjects:

  1. Basic Sciences including Social Scienc
  2. Arithmetic and Quantitative abilities, Computational ability, Quantitative reasoning, Interpretation of Tables, Graphs, etc.
  3. General Knowledge and Current Affairs
  4. English Language, Comprehension, Vocabulary, Grammar, Idioms, etc.
Q:   What is minimum qualifying marks for allowing candidate in appearing in the FRI written test?
A: 

The minimum qualifying marks for allowing candidate in appearing in the written test shall be 50 percent in aggregate at B.Sc. level/M.Sc. level prescribed for admission to the different courses in respect of general category candidates and 45 percent aggregate in respect of SC/ST candidate.

Candidates selected for written test based on the academic requirement will be informed of the date, time and venue of written test through a letter under certificate of posting duly signed by and bearing the official stamp of the FRI (Deemed) University Office.

Q:   When will FRI entrance exam 2025 registration start?
A: 

FRI Entrance Exam 2025 registration process for admissions to the masters degree programme will start in the first week of February, 2025, tentatively. Interested applicants can visit the official website to download the FRI entrance exam application form 2025. The application form must be filled out in offline mode, and then, along with the demand draft of INR 1500, candidates need to send it as a registration.

How to apply for FRI Entrance Exam 2025

Candidates can follow the below-mentioned steps on how to apply for the FRI Entrance Exam 2025.

Step 1: Visit the official website of FRI Deemed to be University, Dehradun.

Step 2: On visiting the official website of the university, go to the admissions page. 

Step 3: Click on 'Information Bulletin' which will be present on the admission site. 

Step 4: Download the Information Bulletin for FRI Entrance Exam. 

Step 6: Take a print out of the application form. admit card and registration form which will be mentioned in the information bulletin. 

Step 7: Fill all the details as required, paste the passport size picture in the required places.

Step 8: Send it to the Institute bank along with the demand draft. 

Note- A candidate may apply in more than one course in test but he/she is required to fill up the separate admission form and separate fee for each course e.g. In case candidate applies for
two courses the fee payable shall be more than INR 1500

The candidates have to submit duly filled Application form along with fee of INR 1500/- in the form of Demand Draft from any Nationalized Bank in the favour of Registrar, FRI Deemed to be
University, Dehradun. The official website informs: “Each application form shall bear a serial number. This number and the course in which admission is sought must be quoted in all correspondence regarding admission in the Institute”. It is further shared that, “All correspondence for admission should be addressed to the Registrar, Forest Research Institute University, Dehradun”.

After filling out the offline FRI entrance exam application form 2025, which is supposed to be downloaded from the official website, candidates must send the application form in the form of the registrar with the registration fee of INR 1500 to the mentioned address on the official website. FRI Admit card/login details will be provided to the applicant by the outsourcing agency in the first week of May.

Q:   What could be the possible reasons for the rejection of the FRI Entrance Exam application form?
A: 

Reasons for rejection of FRI Entrance Exam application forms:

  •  Non-submission of self-attested identical recent photographs at all appropriate places.
    (Xeroxed copy/copies of photographs shall not be accepted.)
  • Lack of signature of the candidate at any of the appropriate place.
  • Submission of application form by a candidate after erasing the entries made earlier by another candidate.
  • FRI Deemed to be University has the right to cancel, at any stage, the admission of a
    candidate who is admitted to a course to which he/she is not entitled, being unqualified or
    ineligible in accordance with the rules and regulations in force.
Q:   What is the FRI Entrance exam application fee for the candidates applying for two or more courses?
A: 

A candidate who want to apply for two or more courses has to fill up separate form for each course with prescribed fee INR 1500/-), for each form.  In case candidate applies for two courses the fee payable shall be Rs.3000/- for application forms.
Similarly, for three courses the fee payable shall be Rs.4500/- respectively. Under no circumstances the admission test fee, once paid, will be Refunded or held in reserve for any future admission test.

Q:   How are seats reserved to various categories for admissions to the master's degree programme at the Forest Research Institute?
A: 

Forest Research Institute has divided the seats available for the Masters degree programme under the following criteria:

  • SCHEDULED CASTES AND SCHEDULED TRIBES: Fifteen percent (15%) of the total available seats shall be reserved for scheduled castes and seven and half percent (7.5%) for scheduled tribe candidates subject to their being otherwise suitable.\
  • OTHER BACKWARD CLASSE (OBC): The reservation to OBC is being provided as per the policy of the Govt. of India as
    defined by National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC).
  • PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED: 3% reservation to the persons with Disabilities under the persons with Disabilities
    (Equal opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995 Chapter
    No. 39.
  • IN-SERVICE CANDIDATES: Five seats shall be reserved in M.Sc. Environment Management course for in-service
    candidates working in Government Departments/Autonomous bodies under the Central/State/Union Territory/ICFRE.
  • FOREIGN NATIONALS: Reservation to the extent of 15% of the prescribed seats on supernumerary basis for
    Foreign Nationals shall be made for admission to each M.Sc. course available in the Institute.

Documents Required for Application Form 2025

Candidates need to affix a recent passport size photograph on the space provided in their application form for FRI admissions. Apart from this, candidates also need to provide two other copies of their passport size photograph for office record. Candidates need to fill the registration form for FRI entrance exam 2025 in their own handwriting.
