CUET Mathematics Exam Pattern

The National Testing Agency conducts Common University Entrance Test (UG) once a year for admission to participating central, state, private, government and deemed universities. To be eligible for admission, candidates must appear for the entrance test for the UG subjects required for their target course. Aspirants selecting CUET Mathematics as one of their mapped subjects can get admission to UG courses like B.A. (Hons) in Mathematics, B.Com (Hons), B.Sc. (Hons), BBA, etc. 

Before starting preparation for Mathematics exam, candidates must know the CUET exam pattern to have an idea of the structure of question paper. The paper pattern for Mathematics for 2026 admissions is given in this article. Students can also find CUET syllabus 2026 for mathematics here. NTA has released the official syllabus PDF for mathematics on official website. CUET 2026 mathematics exam will be conducted in May in multiple shifts. The mode of examination will be computer-based test. NTA will release the CUET dates 2026 in the last week of February.

Q:   From where can I download CUET sample papers?
A:

Common University Entrance Test (CUET) sample papers are released by the conducting body, National Testing Agency (NTA). To download the CUET question papers follow the steps below:

  1. Visit the link provided- CUET Question Paper
  2. Scroll down the page and look for the subject to download the question paper for
  3. Click on the tab download
  4. Create the login credentials for new registrations
  5. Link to download the CUET question paper will be sent on the registered email ID
  6. Click on the link provided and save the PDF.
Q:   What type of questions are asked in the CUET exam?
A:

The CUET questions are objective in nature and carries four options also known as MCQs. Candidates will have to choose the correct answer option and click on it with the help of mouse. Since CUET UG 2026 exam will be conducted in a CBT mode, test-takers will be able to mark only one answer option. In case it is the correct option, students will get +5 marks and in case of wrong answer, negative marking scheme will be applied. Hence, candidates must ensure the accuracy of the answer before selecting the answer. 

Q:   Is it important to select CUET subjects studied in class 12th?
A:

Yes, it is important for students to align the CUET UG subjects with the subjects studied in class 12th. Top central universities like Delhi University, does not accept CUET subject scores which have not been studied by student in class 12th. While selecting CUET subjects candidates must make sure that CUET subjects must closely or completely align with the subjects studied in class 12th. Failing which, candidate will be disqualified for admission despite a good score.

CUET Mathematics Total Marks

The CUET Mathematics marking scheme states that a candidate will get 5 marks for every correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer. However, if a candidate leaves a question unattempted 0 marks will be awarded. Now, as there are 50 questions in the mathematics question paper, the CUET total marks for Mathematics exam is 250 marks.

Q:   How many questions are there in the language section of CUET UG?
A:

CUET UG Language section will include 50 questions. Candidates must attempt all questions. There will be no optional questions.

The language section will check candidate's reading comprehension based on different types of passages. This section will also include questions from grammar. To prepare for the CUET UG language section, candidates must solve previous year question papers and mock tests to become familiar with the type of questions asked in the exam.

A:

Practicing with CUET UG (Common University Entrance Test) question papers from previous years offers following benefits:

Q:   Is it compulsory to attempt all the sections of the CUET question paper?
A:

CUET UG question paper for each subject will consist of 50 questions. Candidates will be required to attempt all questions and no optional questions will be provided. In CUET UG 2026 there are 37 subjects- 13 languages, 23 domain subjects and general tests. While filling the CUET application form, candidates can select upto five CUET subjects aligning with the subjects studied in class 12th and course requirement.

Candidates must attempt all the questions of the subjects selected. However, candidates must keep in mind the negative marking and select the options carefully.
