Shekhar Chandra cracked UGC NET (November) 2017 History paper for Assistant Professor by scoring a total of 166 marks. His paper-wise score is such that he secured 40 marks in Paper I, 40 marks in Paper II, and 86 marks in Paper III.
A BA (Honours) History graduate from Deshbandhu College, Delhi University and MA History postgraduate from IGNOU, Shekhar always wanted to clear UGC NET with flying colours. When we asked Shekhar what prep strategy he adopted to clear the exam, he said, “I did self-study for eight to ten hours daily for few months. Also, I solved all the previous years’ questions of UGC NET.” Some books that helped him in CBSE UGC NET 2017 preparation are listed below:

Further, talking about how he dealt with his strengths and weaknesses at the time of UGC NET preparation, Shekhar shared that he did not take any kind of pressure, always had a healthy diet, and slept properly. Some advice that he gave to UGC NET 2018 aspirants is, “Set your goal, remain focused, and avoid any kind of negative thinking.”
Talking about what he found to be the most difficult part of UGC NET exam, Shekhar said that he found Paper III to be most difficult. However, he was able to manage his time well in all the UGC NET papers and regarding the same he advised NET aspirants that, “Firstly, you should read all questions in the exam very carefully. Thereafter, you should start giving the exam by solving easy questions first. Remember, it is important not to panic while solving the questions.”
An avid reader and a cricket enthusiast, Shekhar believes that positive thinking and self-belief can lead anyone to their success. He recommended NET 2018 candidates to do self-study by making a proper time table for each topic.
Currently, Shekhar is preparing for other competitive exams. However, in future, he wants to make his career in the field of academics by becoming a professor.

No, UGC NET is not a mandatory entrance exam for NIT Srinagar PhD admissions. Candidates can also appear in the GATE as well to qualify for admissions to the NIT Srinagar PhD course.
However, candidates who are applying through a ME/MTech score are required to appear for the national level NIT Srinag

No, candidates who have either appeared for the GATE or UGC NET are not required to appear for the NIT Jalandhar PhD admission Written Test. The aforementioned written test is only applicable to part-time PhD admissions where the candidates have not qualified in either the GATE or UGC NET.

No, the UGC-NET is not a mandatory entrance exam for IIM Shillong PhD admissions. Aside from UGC-NET, candidates can also appear for the CAT, GRE, GATE or GMAT to qualify for PhD admissions as well.

The National Testing Agency will conduct the UGC NET exam in an online mode that in Computer-Based Test mode. Multiple choice questions that is questions with several options will be asked in the examination. Candidates need to choose the appropriate answer.
