Dr Shamim Ahmad who gave the exam from Jammu & Kashmir for Political Science subject said, “Paper-I was easy, especially questions related to Reasoning section. Questions asked in this section were from topics such as Series, Distance, Coding-Decoding etc.” Elaborating further he said, “Among all the sections, I found questions from Data Interpretation section to be most difficult. However, overall my paper went well".

Deepak Kumar Sahu who is a government teacher by profession and who gave the exam from Kota, Rajasthan shared, “The paper was average in terms of difficulty level. Since I belong to a Hindi medium school, I found it difficult to understand the language. And, because of this I found questions from Higher Education System section to be most difficult.” Deepak further added, “Since I am a teacher I could attempt questions from Teaching Aptitude section very easily. Questions from all other sections were also easy. I could complete my paper in time.”

Another candidate, Ali Ishtiyaq from Srinagar who gave the test for Political Science subject held similar views like Deepak. He said, “It was a great paper. But one needed to study well in order to clear the paper. Questions from all sections of Paper I were easy but I found the section of Higher Education System comparatively difficult. Apart from this, questions from Communication section were the most difficult for me. I had to read the questions of this section twice or thrice to understand them.”

Mahendra Gurjar who appeared for UGC NET for the second time shared that Paper-I was comparatively easier in November 2017. He said, “Although the paper (Paper-I) was easy this year, I found Reading Comprehensions little difficult. Apart from that, some questions related to Mathematics were also confusing. Overall, it was a good paper.”

UGC NET 2017: Exam Pattern for Paper I

All UGC NET aspirants shared that the exam pattern for Paper-I was exactly the same as shared by CBSE on their official website. Regarding the same, Deepak said, “Paper-I contained 50 questions with no negative marking. We had to complete the paper in 1 hour and 15 minutes. Almost every candidate could complete their Paper-I in time.”

On the other hand, Mahendra shared that “in NET January 2017 exam there were a total of 60 questions in Paper-I out of which we had to attempt 50 questions. However, this time (in NET November 2017 exam) there were no choices given in the paper. Total 50 questions were asked and we had to attempt all the questions in the paper. Other than that there was no change in the pattern for Paper-I of the exam.”

After BA, you need to pursue an MA in Urdu (or a related subject).

Once you complete or are in the final year of your MA, you can apply for UGC NET in Urdu.

In short:

BA alone cannot fulfill the eligibility for UGC NET.

The eligibility for UGC NET is MA in Urdu (or related field) with 55%+ marks
