Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), formerly known as Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU), has 49 affiliated colleges and 785 institutes under its name that offer a total of 25 UG, PG and PhD programmes across numerous specialisations and streams. Some of the most popular streams are Engineering, Business & Management Studies, IT Software, Medicine & Health Sciences, Design and Science. The University facilitates quality technical education and research in its own premises as well as all affiliated institutions.

AKTU is a state-level, public collegiate university. Formerly known as Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU), it is a University of National Importance, specially for the UG and PG courses offered in the field of Engineering and Science. AKTU is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Every year, UP State releases a notification for fee reimbursement for the students of AKTU and its affiliated colleges.
