IIT Bombay Admission Process 2025

Step 1: IIT Bombay Application Process 2025

Step 2: IIT Bombay University Selection Criteria & Release of Merit List
After completion of the registration process, applicants need to go through the course-based entrance exam followed by other selection rounds (if applicable). Candidates must score equal or above IIT Bombay cutoff in the accepted entrance exam for admission. After the selection rounds are completed, they need to go through the course-wise counselling process for final seat allocation. For BDes admission, aspirants need to pass UCEED exam. IIT Bombay BTech Admission 2025
IIT Bombay BTech is a four-year course divided into eight semesters. IIT Bombay MDes Admission 2025
IIT Bombay offers an MDes course for a duration of two years spread across four semesters. The institute offers MDes through the Industrial Design Centre in Industrial Design, Visual Communication, Animation, Mobility & Vehicle Design and Interaction Design. In general, the first two semesters in the first year comprise theory courses and learning/ instruction oriented projects, while the second year is more or less spent on design projects. Yes, IIT Bombay conducts Common Entrance Exam for Design or CEED for admission to MDes programme. It is a national-level entrance exam conducted in online mode. It is a three-hour exam conducted once in a year. Candidates shortlisted based on CEED rank have to also appear for IDC written test conducted by the institute. The shortlisted aspirants are further require to come for an interview round for final selection.
The total tuition fee for IIT Bombay MDes is INR 1 Lacs as per an unofficial source. Students belonging to SC/ ST/ PwD category or a child of institution staff are exempted from paying the tuition fee. There is a concessional and a non-concessional fee for candidates belonging to General/ EWS/ OBC-NCL category. The concessional is offered on tuition fee. Candidates apart from the tuition fee are required to pay examination fee, medical fee, etc. Students not staying in hostel are exempted from the payment of hostel fee.
Apart from the course fee, candidates also have to pay a registration fee of INR 300 for General/ OBC Male and INR 150 for SC/ ST/ PwD and female candidates.

Step 1: Candidates meeting the eligibility requirements have to pay an application fee to register for MDes course.
Step 2: IIT Bombay selects candidates for MDes programme based on CEED score. After qualifying CEED, the institute releases a category-wise merit list for each stream. Eligible candidates are required to appear for an IDC (written test) and an interview round.

IIT Bombay admission to BDes course includes various steps. Starting with registration to entrance exam, counselling and seat allotment. Before jumping to application, candidates must also check their eligibility. Any candidate who have completed Class 12 can apply for BDes course.
Step 1: Registration
Candidates need to apply online for BDes course with an application fee of INR 3,800 for open and INR 1,900 for reserved category. The common application form will be available through the IIT Bombay Admissions Portal.
Step 2: Selection
The selection to BDes course is based on UCEED rank. A merit list is prepared based on UCEED rank of the candidates.
Step 3: Counselling
Once shortlisted, candidates need to register for counselling. The seat are alloted based on the UCEED rank of the candidates. Aspirants must pay the fee to confirm their seat in the institute.
A minimum of Class 12 is required to apply for BDes course at IIT Bombay. Below is the detailed eligibility:

The average and median packages offered during IIT Bombay placements 2024 stood at INR 23.5 LPA and INR 17.92 LPA, respectively. The overall placement rate recorded during IIT Bombay placements 2024 was 74.53% with 1,475 students participating in the process out of 1,979 students. A total of 930 students registered, 819 students participated and 683 students were placed durinng BTech placements 2024. IIT Bombay JEE Advanced Cutoff 2024 was concluded for admission to the BTech/Integrated BTech/BS courses. The cutoff was released for different categories under the AI quota. For the General AI category candidates, the last round closing rank to secure a seat in CSE was 68. For the SC AI category, the last round closing rank for CSE was 32.
The cut off rank in Round 6 for B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering is 67 which is very close to this range. This was for general category under All India quota. Unless the candidate belongs to some other category, one can not afford to score less than this. With this rank, there is a probability of getting admission however since, the cut offs keep changing from round to round, better ranks definitely increases your chances of getting admission in IIT Bombay - Indian Institute of Technology.
IIT Bombay conducted the UCEED 2025 exam on January 19, 2025 (9 am – 12 noon). The exam had two mandatory parts: the computer-based Part A and the offline Part B.
