Jadavpur University review.

Placements: JU has one of the best placement cells. Students work hard to attract companies. Top MNCs like MAANG regularly visit our campus. The average salary package offered by the circuital branch is 15 LPA, and the non-circuital branch is provided with 10 LPA. Our placement rate is almost 100%. This year, the highest salary package offered is 1.8cr.

Infrastructure: As a T1 engineering college JU lags here, and the infrastructure isn't as good as it should be. Some buildings need renovation and some need new construction. Hostels aredecent, but some doors are broken. There isn't capacity for all students in the hostel and it isn't air-conditioned. There are Wi-Fi and library facilities and also indoor and outdoor games facilities available.

Faculty: Faculty members are highly educated but some of them aren't very student friendly. We have to write the same thing in the exam that they taught in their class or give notes. Course curriculum is also very orthodox like there are many irrelevant subjects taught. Missing labs give a year lag. But the good thing is JU has no compulsory attendance policy.

Other: The main highlight of JU is its campus life. The amount of freedom we get here is tremendous.

Our college is absolutely value for money.

Placements: Almost 95% students got placed in my previous batch (2022). One of them got 55 LPA (the highest) in core department and one of them got 17 LPA (the highest pack) in software department. The lowest pack was around 4.5 LPA. Average package was around 10.9 LPA overall in my course. Many top recruiting companies like balmer lauwri (international ) optum, policy bazar, pwc, protivity, etc. visit the college. Almost 60% students got internship in various companies like Amazon, tcs digital, etc.

Infrastructure: Facilities provided to us are good including internet connection, electricity, projectors in classes and in hall room, seminar hall, and excellent practical lab with full of facilities. The infrastructure of our college hostel is not good. It is really disappointing as a college student. Library facilities are superb and food quality is average in the hostels. In mess and canteen, food is average. Medical facilities are available for the full day. All the types of indoor and outdoor sports are available.

Faculty: Teachers of our college are very helpful and friendly to us. All the professors are well qualified and they have excellent knowledge. They make students industry ready. Semester exams are moderate, not so tough if you learn sincerely and carefully and follow the guidelines of every class teacher. The pass percentage is above 40.

It is one of the best colleges for engineering.

Placements: Almost 95% of students got placed in our department, and nearly 85% of students got placed in engineering department. The highest salary package offered was 1.8 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Apple, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Adobe, and Samsung. The average salary package offered ranges from 7 LPA to 7.5 LPA.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure is average in our college. It has 2 campuses that are located in Jadavpur and Salt Lake. Both campuses are huge. Free unlimited high-speed Wi-Fi is available for every student. Students have to apply for their unique Wi-Fi id and password on both campuses. It also has an air-conditioned library and we can borrow 5 books. Many laboratories are available in this college. The food served in the hostel is very good. Food items like desserts, non-vegetarian, starters, main courses, cold drinks, etc., are provided. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options are available for students.

Faculty: Our teachers are very helpful and they guide us very well. Our course curriculum is relevant and makes students ready for the industry. The passing percentage is 50%. If we fail in any subject then we will get a supplementary exam, which we can give 3-4 months after the semester exams. There is no compulsory attendance for theory classes, but laboratory attendance is mandatory in this college.

Other: Many events and extracurricular activities are conducted in our college. Sports like basketball, coding, robotics, chess, etc., are also conducted. Scholarships are also provided to merit students. We can get scholarships up to Rs 60,000 per year if we score 60% every year, and 75% in the 10+2 board exam. Our college fee structure is reasonable.

Review of Jadavpur University.

Placements: Placements for the core branches were quite good. Companies like Times of India, Bennett and Coleman, ITC PSPD and many more visited the campus and recruited many of the students. Non-core and IT companies like Bridgei2i, ZS Associates, CGI, Capgemini, Trevista, etc., visited the college to offer placements. The highest package offered was 7.5 LPA, and the average package offered was 4.8 LPA. The placement percentage was 97%. All the students got internships. The placement cell is not very effective, but students get decent placements every year, on their efforts.

Infrastructure: The library is more than sufficient to procure all the study materials. Tons of books are available on whichever topic one is concerned about. Classrooms are quite comfortable, and some classrooms are air-conditioned. Canteens are not up to the mark if hygiene is your priority. Wi-Fi facility is available in the library and labs. Lab facilities are excellent.

Faculty: Professors are highly qualified and knowledgeable. Most of them are extremely supportive. Sessions are highly interactive. We are imparted a little bit of industrial knowledge. Labs are conducted with utter proficiency. Some of the lab assistants are very helpful.

Other: Cultural and technical fests called Srijan and Sanskriti respectively are conducted in our college. These are celebrated grandly and are memorable for all of us. There is immense scope for sports and other activities. Various clubs are present for every individual to participate and showcase their talent.

Jadavpur University is a beautiful mix of culture and technology.

Placements: The placements at JU (as we call our beloved college) will never be a concern if you are eligible to take admission in this college because trust me, only the brightest of minds come here to study. Speaking of my department, despite it being a relatively unpopular department, it is a huge field of study, and rightfully we find jobs in some of the largest core and MNCs like ITC, CGI, PWC, NextGen Printers, Bridge I2I, Times Of India and Infosys.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure at Jadavpur University, despite being a state-funded college, is good in comparison to several highly funded colleges. Lush green campus, huge playgrounds, hostels, canteens, labs, in campus shops are some to just name it. We may not have those unnecessary fancy things, but labs and other necessary resources are equipped with all modern and infield equipment. One will never feel lagging in the field of infrastructure at JU. By the way, we pay a miserly Rs. 2500 for one year which includes all lab and other fees, and Rs.81 for a semester as exam fee. What more do you want at a cost half that of an average school's monthly fee?

Faculty: As a member of printing engineering family, I can speak with utmost pride that all teachers are highly-qualified in this field, most of them being PhDs. They are like buckets of knowledge waiting to fill water in every empty vessel. You may find them too strict at times. But, trust me, once you break the ice with them, they will be your best friends in the course of 4 years.

Other: As a member of Salt Lake campus of JU, I can proudly say that we house the CAB ground, where international cricket teams come and practise. We organise Srijan, Kolkata's largest techno-management fest. Apart from this, the events like Sanskriti (cultural), and Arena (sports inter-department) are held across both campuses.
