Kerala University BSc (H) syllabus is divided into semester- pattern. The university provides only a single medium of teaching, i.e. English. During the three-year duration, students are required to study following courses:

• Foundation courses are grouped into 4 major categories namely Ability Enhancement courses (AEC), Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC), Value Addition Courses (VAC) and Multidisciplinary Courses (MDC)
• Discipline Specific Major
• Discipline Specific Minor/Multidisciplinary
• Research Component with dissertation, internship & field surveys

Kerala University provides offers three-year BCA, LL M, BSc, BEd, BVoc, BA, BBA, BCom, BFA, BHMCT, BMS, and BSW courses, five-year BArch two-year BEd and four-year BHM and BTech courses at the undergraduate level. At the postgraduate level, Kerela University provides two-year MTech, MSc, MA, MEd, MArch, MA, MCA, MCom, MCJ, MPA, MPEd, MPlan, MSW and MVA courses, and one-year MLISc course. Additionally, the University of Kerela also provides MPhil and PhD programmes to the students. The criteria for admission to undergraduate programmes at Kerala University, with the exception of BTech, BPA BFA and BEd are merit-based and based on class 12 exam results. Additionally, the entrance test is the basis for all PG admissions.
